How fast will you notice the difference in what is new with day 113 of Happier People podcast compared with the last 112 days? I hope the change is a huge positive one and yet I realize you might not even notice it! Life is so relative that often what seems like a big deal to me is not something worth noticing to you! What is a pain body attack and how does understanding it help me today? Eckhart Tolle describes the pain body in The Power Of Now as the collection of all past pain and human suffering. For most people, the pain body is dormant or not active most of the time. When certain triggering events happen, the pain body then activates which could be called a pain body attack. When the pain body is active, it seeks to feed by encouraging other pain bodies to join it and creating even more pain. In relationships, especially with a partner, this tends to be where insane arguments happen. At work or school this can be seen as acting out, a need for attention, a desire to control, and efforts to dominate others. In the human body, the pain often is expressed with physical pain including aches, sickness, and chronic diseases. Consciously experiencing the pain body attack allows it to pass quickly with minimal damage and to then occur less often. Hear how I today work through a pain body attack where I experience the pain of my reaction, cry through it, and then am quickly restored to sanity instead of having to go through all of the other ways it can happen! Would you believe that making the investment of a lifetime feels crazy at the time? I thought it would be more like awe inspiring or full of confidence or similar to winning big at a casino. The experience of starting to invest in a new opportunity that might produce huge returns in actually is a giant leap of faith into the unknown often in the moment looking more like a foolish idea. In December 2016, my friend Albert who works with my friend Robert at Wall of Coins sold me on how awesome the cryptocurrency called Dash was. At the time, the price was around $10 and had been flat for months. A data analysis of past history showed that the price had been as much as $14 over two years ago with the price then plunging to $2 quickly followed by a slow trend up to $10. Meanwhile, I was experience more financial insecurity than I had in a year and a half. Buying $10,000 of Bitcoin and changing it into Dash to get a masternode seemed crazy. What if I made a mistake and lost my money? Where would I get cash to pay my bills if this went wrong? After looking at the Dash community and seeing the features of Dash plus the budget proposal and masternode system, I felt wild in jumping in with all the money I could afford to invest all tied up in one wallet on my computer. Now two months later as the price has blown up to $37 turning my $10,000 investment into one worth $37,000, I am tempted to sell even though I planned for holding on for at least a year. Even in the middle of the best investment I have ever made, holding with my original plan remains challenging as I consider the risk of not selling and watching this price bubble burst potentially back where I started or even lower. I am grateful today to have the courage to keep trying even when many of the investments I have made in the past have ended up turning to dust. Today I know that courageously doing the right thing for the right reasons allows me to make something of the opportunities I have instead of just sitting on the sidelines predicting and wishing. My exercise for today is to remember WHY I invested to begin with which was not to make money but to be a part of a community and GIVE my money to people who would be able to make the best use of it in building this new cryptocurrency or digital cash money online! How do we balance the need for fun, variety, and uncertainty in our lives with our desire for safety, security, and certainty? Endless innovation or constant never ending improvement is the way to get both a stable life full of peace and continuously improve in each area of our lives. Taking a leap of faith on each new innovation brings the feeling of risk and excitement we seek when we are bored. The improvements that come from each new success then increase the feelings of certainty we work so hard for in our relationships, work, and health. Just when I was starting to feel comfortable and certain in my filming studio after months of not changing anything, I realized yesterday it was time for innovation because I always need to continue improving my recording setup to provide you with the best audio and visual experience. While it is uncomfortable ordering $800 in new audio recording equipment, I also enjoy the discomfort a bit because the rest of my life is so stable. Considering upgrading my audio is enough to keep my life from feeling boring and to help me avoid causing problems in other areas just to keep things interesting. The balancing act to me seems to be to maintain stability in most areas and consciously continue to test and innovate in each area of my life for the element of surprise and fun.
