The product that you are selling is only ONE part of the pricing equation! A product alone is not enough to distinguish you from the rest. The biggest issue is that when we only price and sell the product we are choosing to put ourselves in the same bucket as everyone else selling the same KIND of product. This gives your customer the ability to focus on the thing they want to… PRICE ALONE! This episode will give you tools to overcome this in your head!

You can’t be in two places at one time. This goes for physically occupying space as well as mindset. This comes back to what you practice you get good at. It also explains why 90% lottery winners, lose all their money after winning. In this episode we are talking about critically looking and analyzing ourselves and the things that we do that are REALLY & ACTUALLY standing in our path and blocking us from our goals! Part of the game of success is being the successful person first, that does the same things as other successful people, to have what they have. As people we all want to feel like we are a part of something, kind of like pack mentality. We feel that if enough people agree, then they must be right or on to something. The truth is this is really just a lot of people agreeing about one thing. This episode will help frame this idea for you as well as illustrate why ONLY listening to the people in your life that matter is the best practice! My Mom always said “There is a line of people out there waiting to make fun of you, don’t invite them into your house too!”

As artist we spend our days doing very different things in the majority of people. I know that I felt in the past that some things that I do or mundane or boring. The more I’ve documented my day-to-day over the last two years, I figured out even the things that I think are boring in my job are not boring to other people! As a result, I document as much of my day as possible. I’m not sure if or when I’m going to use all of this, though knowing I have it and the ability to use it is the key. Pricing is a puzzle that needs to be solved just like everything else! In Lou of the holiday season this is the perfect time to play with your price point. This is the time to experiment and see where the threshold of your customer is. For most people there is a hard deadline of Dec 25. As a result, people are willing to pay more to get quality work delivered faster. It’s funny that once you prove to yourself, people are willing to pay you more for your skills, how hard it is to take them back down.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I had a lot of time to think. I found myself reflecting on this idea of “The Artist Lifestyle”. I discovered that I had only been embracing part of what this could really mean. It is much larger, holistic and inclusive than I had originally thought! Give it a listen and you’ll see what I mean.

Have you ever noticed that we as people get hung up on things that we have NO CONTROL over? I’ve looked at this for years, though this year has a TON of great examples from covid to the economy to the election you can take your pick. It all boils down to the same thing, focusing on things out of your control makes no sense! Let’s all start spending our time working on the things we CAN CONTROL! As the very least we’ll be spending our time on things that could potentially benefit us instead of WASTING our time that we can never get back WATCHING and COMPLAINING. Let’s choose to take back our time and spend it wiser, because now we know that’s an option!
