Nixxi receives SnailMail off of the Royal Mails! Is a tomato a fruit?

Kev won SmeggHeads, with the on-air verdict making clear that the final question did not change his overall victory.

Kev's television had quite literally given up while he was watching Stargate Universe. After being forced to rediscover radio for entertainment, he spent more than £80 on a replacement bulb, got dragged out of bed when it arrived and fitted it only to discover that the television was still dead. His solution was to put the enormous broken set on the internet and somehow sell it anyway, while Mustang immediately joined the technical discussion from Interact.

The conversation then uncovered an even bigger gap in Kev's knowledge: he genuinely did not know that swans could fly. Nixxi and the others had already been sending him pictures as proof, but Kev had dismissed at least one flying swan on Facebook because he did not believe it was actually a swan. He then made matters worse by admitting that he had not even been sure a swan was a bird.

SmeggHeads became a two-on-two battle for the night, with Kev and Zoey facing Nixxi and Tommy while Alex supplied the questions. Halloween weekend also crept into the show after Nixxi described going out dressed as a blood-covered dark angel. Later, Kev and Nixxi dug into the random-CD pile and let Nixxi choose blindly from Now 59, before the second hour drifted into darker Halloween music, listener messages and the usual attempts to keep everybody in the studio under control.

SmeggHeads became a two-on-two contest, with Kev and Zoey facing Nixxi and Tommy while Alex ran the quiz. Nixxi and Tommy won the week, pushing Nixxi's running total to six wins against Kev's four.

Nixxi talks about wanting to babysit and the conversation inevitably returns to Miley, this time after the dog has been eating pens. Kev and Nixxi also look ahead to an imminent birthday while listeners contribute through the show’s normal messages and interaction.

Kev edged SmeggHeads 5-4, taking the weekly point after a close round.

Nixxi took SmeggHeads after getting the final penguin question right while Kev went for swan. The running tally moved to Nixxi 5, Kev 3.

Rob Davies was the opponent for SmeggHeads. The regular questions tied 3-3 before a China-distance tie-breaker, and Kev's answer was closer, giving him the win over Rob.

Nixxi returned from Scotland with stories from the trip, while a buffet somehow led Kev and Nixxi into banana-chicken-curry fart territory. Popcorn and the people who had to clean it up became another argument, and a listener using the name Harold Bishop gave the pair a new name to repeatedly shout down the radio.

Nixxi won SmeggHeads again, levelling the running contest at three wins each.

Nixxi had a particularly strong SmeggHeads, including a five-out-of-five run in the round, and took the weekly win. The running score was left at Kev 3, Nixxi 2.

Show 62 began in spectacularly broken fashion. Nixxi had barely returned before the studio computer holding the music failed, leaving Kev with one Alex Gaudino CD and very little else to work with. I'm In Love was played, then played again in instrumental form while the pair filled time by listing increasingly rude alternatives for the word broken and blaming Nixxi's return for the disaster. Once the system recovered they finally got the programme moving properly with a mixture of new and familiar dance records, including DT8 Project, Unicorn Kid, Stromae, Faithless and Yolanda Be Cool.

The night also gave Nixxi a chance to play V-Star's All Time Low in the Renegade and Nixxi Remix, the first released remix she had worked on, while iDrag Paper supplied the week's iPhone-game nonsense. SmeggHeads returned with Alex asking the questions and Nixxi won the week, continuing her early fightback in the running score. Later, the conversation somehow moved on to killer prawns, spiders, whether prawns could wear jeans and whether a spider and a prawn could be combined into a 'spider-prawn', before the final run of dance tracks took the show to eleven.

With Nixxi away, Rob Davies took her place against Kev and Alex supplied the questions. The regular round tied, but Kev beat Rob on a London Underground tie-breaker and said the result put him three wins up in the early SmeggHeads running.

With Nixxi away, Kev flew solo for Show 60 and leaned heavily into the music, listener messages and the freedom to raid the library without anybody across the desk objecting. The first hour mixed current and new records from Sky Ferreira, Eminem and Rihanna, Alex Gaudino, Unicorn Kid, Rank 1, Katy Perry and Pendulum, with Kev introducing Dreamcatcher as an unusual 8-bit dubstep record and talking directly to listeners about the tracks as he went.

After ten o'clock the show turned into a run through older dance favourites, including Delerium, Sonique, Artful Dodger, Chicane, Dario G, DB Boulevard, Moony, Roger Sanchez, Nu Generation and Robin S. Kev used the records to trigger memories of when they had first been out, talked about unsuitable mobile-phone ringtones and kept the solo edition moving through Interact and requests before Stretch'n'Vern and Guru Josh Project carried the programme towards eleven. SmeggHeads was deliberately skipped for the night because there was nobody in the other chair to play against.
