The Kings have grabbed their boogie boards to ride the third wave of Ska and explore all that it has to offer from sunny California all the way to the rough and tumble streets of Boston. While this era is oft maligned (particularly when we get to the 90s) its important to take a moment to smell the roses rather than focus on the thorns and we hope you, our wonderful listeners, will find something in this episode you will enjoy! The Kings travel in time and space from the 60s in Jamaica to the late 70s in the UK to tackle what is now known as the second wave of Ska. Part revival, part new school twist, the sounds and scene quickly captivated the country. While the trend was fairly brief even compared to punk, it laid the foundation for what many people would think of when they heard the phrase Ska.

SKATEMBER IS HERE! The Kings make their way down to Jamrock to explore the history and roots of Ska. While lots of people think of this music as the sound a kid hears when their mozzarella sticks arrive at Chili's, the history and culture surrounding it have had huge reverberations in music globally and it deserves more recognition.

This might not be a super interesting episode to most but there has been some "Drama" regarding our local scene that we simply had to discuss it but there are some great gems in this episode that we think stands up to our strict entertainment standards for our audience. Continuing their City to City series the Kings hitch a ride from the i90 to the i80 and stop in The Star City. Lincoln may not come to mind when talking about the history of punk and hardcore but underneath there is a surprising history of bands and connections to the broader scene. In the city of Rochester we celebrate Pride Month in July, and to do that we covered two bands that we feel are very important in regards to not just LGBT visibility but punk and hardcore; Dicks and Big Boys. Both hailing from Austin TX, we feel they've flown under the radar for the new generation and they deserve the spotlight back on them again.
