In this episode of The Kings of Punk Podcast, the hosts delve into the latest releases from KNOCKED LOOSE, TORTURE, CANDY APPLE, and BOOTLICKER. As they navigate through a diverse range of tracks, some things hit the mark for your discerning hosts... and some things, maybe not so much. They share their honest reactions regardless. Stay tuned as the troika dissects these hardcore (and adjacent) offerings with their signature wit and candor.
After a cold open infused with the joviality (and frivolity) KOPPOD listeners expect, the troika assesses and discusses the legacies of four underground/punk rock legends who passed in recent weeks: Steve Albini, Eddie "Leeway" Sutton, Dennis "Machine Gun" Thompson, and Gary Floyd (of the Dicks). Not the first time these names have come up on KOPPOD; won't be the last. RIP.
The Kings are joined by special guest Cooper as they listen and review to the singular record by crust ska punk group Choking Victim. Kingsofpunk.com as always.
The boys return to close the book on Youth of Today as well as discuss their legacy as well as the pioneering sounds of the mid to late 80s hc movement known now as youth crew.

KOPPOD's latest installment in their "Legacy of..." series delves into the influential sounds of 80s straight edge titans, Youth of Today. A band known for their raw energy and impactful lyrics, this edition promises to explore the impact and legacy of a group that helped shape the hardcore music genre and subculture. The Kings of Punk trace the band's journey from Danbury, CT to a central role in New York's punk underground alongside greats like Agnostic Front, with the group developing their sound and making a greater and greater impact on the American hardcore scene as they developed the straight edge ethos pioneered by hardcore musicians like Ian Mackaye and Kevin Seconds. The band's relationship with Krishna Consciousness and role in the early development of "Krishnacore" also receives some attention. Stay tuned for an in-depth journey through the roots of both the "Youth Crew" subculture and the subgenre associated with it.

THE TROIKA returns to a classic KOPPOD segment: REUNION RETRIBUTION. In this episode, they listen to second-era, post-dissolution records from the bands KAAOS, TZN XENNA, and DEVIATED INSTINCT. If you're not well-versed in those hardcore punk bands, don't worry about it: KOPPOD catches you up with some samplings form their back catalog. A mixed bag here; give it a listen and find out who kept their mojo.
Your co-hosts unwind a little, having wrapped up the fierce competition of March Mayhem. Topics include cockroach mosh, Katt Williams, bootlegged-ass kid's movies, and more.. including their answers to queries drawn from r/punk, a segment all of the KOPPOD audience missed dearly and feels great excitement to hear once more.
