+++ FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH +++
Have you ever heard this phrase before? What does that mean anyway?
The little I've found in a quick Google search, suggests it originated within the horse-racing context. People would bet on a horse they were so sure of winning, they'd attach the phrase, "it came from the horse's mouth."
One thing I do know is that the phrase does carry the idea, that it's first-hand information.
As leaders, we need to listen to those we lead as to how to best lead them. Remember, they are half of the equation. You are one half and they are the other.
Making a solo decision as to what they'd like, have not had good results.
So, what can you do differently?
That is what you'll discover in this episode where you're going to hear exactly what your top talents say is keeping them from leaving.

+++ THE GOOSE AND THE GANDER +++
Sometimes in life we have to decide whether or not we are going to allow our prejudices, biases, political or religious bent, etc keep us from being intellectually honest.
What amazes me is how some people will use one set of rules for one person but make an exception, for another. It's like giving one a pass and not the other.
This behavior to me is intellectually dishonest.
What's good for the goose must also be good for the gander. This is a saying I grew up hearing, which made sense to me, the older I became.
You may not agree with me, but before you make that judgment, take a listen to this episode.

+++ MISS TAKES +++
Take one. Take Two. Take Three.
We all make them - miss takes.
It's something we attempted to do and failed at. Or DID we fail at it?
What if we saw our attempts as Thomas Edison did: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
But ...
... there are some emotional intelligent mistakes some leaders make, which doesn't fall into the attempted category. They fall more in the self-awareness zone.
That is what is discussed in this episode.

+++ ECCENTRIC ANYONE? +++
People who stand out in our world and are making a difference, tend to have an eccentric personality. This means they are at times tagged with labels such as strange, weird, bizarre, and more.
Do you know anyone like this? Have you ever tagged anyone with one or more of these labels?
The late Steve Jobs was given the label of eccentric. Imagine. But look at the results.
This is also true of Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and of other businesses he has started. But again, look at the results.
When I look at these people through the results lens, I am apt to listen to what they have to say. I may not agree with everything but I want to hear.
In this episode, you'll hear what Elon Musk had to say to his leaders which applies to you and me.

+++ TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE +++
How often have you thought, said, or heard that? Oh, I've lost count.
But I've also found out that some of what I thought was too good to be true, was actually true.
Have that ever happened to you?
The "kicker" is that some of what I found out to be true, I found out too late and I could truly kick myself.
I wish there were some guidelines available to know whether it is or not or simply trust my gut brain. "Gut-brain," you say! Yes, but that's for another time.
For now, let's stay focused on what this revealed secret is. You can find out in today's episode.

+++ HE'S GONE SHE'S GONE +++
We don't know the value of something or someone until we lose it or them? Am I right?
Have you ever lost something that was special to you? Can you recall how you felt?
Or were you one of those who shrugged it off as "no big deal" or "it's their loss."
Some leaders do that very thing until it starts to hurt the bottom line. What they fail to realize that they are the common denominator to these losses.
However, it's not because they are bad bosses/leaders. It's just that they are ... let's just say something else.
The "something else" is what you'll discover in this episode. Beware, you'll have to exercise patience.

+++ HOT OR COLD +++
How do you like your coffee or tea? Cold or hot?
What about having it lukewarm where it's neither cold or hot?
Your tongue becomes the "thermometer" that gives you that feedback. You must either get the temperature adjusted so you can enjoy a hot brewed coffee or tea.
What you have done is acted in a dual role - the thermostat to get the temperature you want and the thermometer to measure the temperature making sure it's just right.
If you're wondering where I'm going with this analogy, you have to listen to this episode to find out where I took it. You might be surprised.

+++ DARK & BRIGHT SIDE +++
Have you noticed that everything in life has an opposite?
Peace/War. Dark/Light. Black/White. Night/Day. Sun/Moon.
Okay, you get the picture.
Sometimes, because we take things for granted and have come to expect certain things to be the way they are, we fail to see more of this contrast around us.
Take the workplace for example. There are the engaged worker and the disengaged worker. Right?
And the contrast? It's surprising and disappointing.
That is what was discussed in this episode. Take a listen.

+++ IT'S BASIC AND HUMAN +++
There are some simple and basic actions, that when effectively done, can have a huge impact.
Would you agree?
How often have you heard this statement: "it's the thought that counts?"
This follows on the heel of an action that someone took and even though it wasn't a huge act, the recipient made a big deal of it because they were more moved by the fact that they were thought of or remembered.
Have you ever experienced that?
In this episode, I share the rewards and impact of the simple, frequent, and effective act of acknowledgment.
Here are 3 of the 5 outcomes mentioned:

+++ CELL-LEE-BRATE, CELEBRATE +++
When last have you been celebrated? What did you feel when you were? Do you recall?
Some people long to be celebrated and have been waiting a long time and it still hasn't happened. Some have jumped, as it were, through hoops, stood on their heads, yet to no avail.
Are you one of those?
What if I told you there is a way to be celebrated but you need to do 3 things without jumping through hoops or standing on your head, would that interest you?
In this episode you will hear what those 3 things are. But unfortunately they come towards the end of the episode so you can either fast forward and find it or be patient and listen to the full episode.
