Had the great opportunity to sit down with Tonya Sweats Prince Georges County County Executive Candidate and owner of managing member of Sweatism Consulting LLC. Mrs. Sweats is a entrepreneur, community activist, and child advocate and US Air Force veteran. I can say enough positive things about this conversation. She really has a real passion for family, history, and the economic and professional success of our community in Maryland. Ya'll are really going to like this one, I know I sure did.

This one has been a few years in the making. My good friend Andre Cooper and I grew up on the same street and had very similar starts in life. He and I grew up with single mothers, participated in NJROTC throughout high school, and would eventually both join the military. We both faced challenges from tours in Afghanistan, tours conducting counter drug ,and natural disaster operations etc. Throughout it all the same thing remains the most important from duty, country, and first and foremost family.

Really glad I had the opportunity to sit down with Alyssa Coogan owner of AK Inverted a pole fitness studio located here in beautiful Juneau, AK. Alyssa and I talk about the positivity that her company brings to town helping her clients connect with their bodies and how fitness in general does wonders for confidence and mental health. Alyssa's passion for mental health lead her to get her to receive her Masters of Science In Clinical Mental Health and become a children's counselor at the AWARE Shelter. She primarily helps children who have been abuse or exposed to domestic violence. Really amazing to speak to her on a topic so close to my heart.

My guest today is Logan Lott, the owner and operator of Tongass Fitness. In this episode we discuss the birth of Tongass Fitness the loss of his dear friend and business partner Ryan Johnson and how this amazing community rallied to keep his memory alive.

Along with many other business across the world owning a business during the pandemic has been tough but Logan and I certainly spoke on the ability through dynamic and innovative thinking, small businesses can certainly find a way to prosper. I hope you all enjoy this one.

Originally from Thomasville, GA, Andre enlisted in the Coast Guard after college and has found himself along with me here in Juneau. Y'all, we went all over the map with this one. From race and gender dilemmas in and out the service, going above and beyond at your job and maybe not seeing the recognition that others have for less. Native American/Indigenous issues and the parallels to being Black in America. And of course a bit of that little insurrection that happened in January (heavy eye roll). It was a good ass talk. For three years I've been wanting to do this podcast with my dear friend Dr. Louretha Adam's. Dr. Adams is a professor and Neuropsychologist who received her doctorate from the night Howard University. She is currently located in Southern California where she is an adjunct professor and small business owner. Her work focuses on creating modern, functional clothing and designs, with strong ties to the Indigenous Alaskan culture. We talk about the importance of indigenous representation in the art world, entrepreneurship amongst people of color, cultural appropriation and a whole host of other topics.
