The Lake Radio

Loosing control over the creepers tonight, bruise them up like four to the floor, with the majestic 909 that kicks till broken squares shatter like glass. We make contact to a new galaxy of rage. No big city will sleep tonight. The Dominica, the amazonian will tear up the greed. Our sense of justice is a hurricane demanding a new world order. Cuz justice is missing.

‘Noisy Neighbors’ (Swedish title: ‘Bullret I byn’). A audio documentary in 3 episodes by Mattias Wallenius.

For over a decade, noise complaints have shaped the music scene in Stockholm. Many venues have been forced to close down or move due to neighbors being disturbed.

”Noisy neighbors” (Swedish title: ”Bullret i byn”) investigates the relationship between music, sound and city life in the Swedish capital.

The series follows Fylkingen, one of the oldest still active organisations for experimental music in the world, as they are being evicted from their venue after almost 40 years. But they are far from alone.

A series in three parts, where the sounds of the city, memories and actual noise complaints submitted to the Swedish Environmental Department blend together to create something between a documentary and music in itself.

“A one-hour program by Pizza Noise Mafia, a Brussels-based electronic duo and currently part of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art. Ahead of our next album, to be released this November as a double LP on the Belgian label Slaaploos, we’ll share a live set recorded in Brussels last year, followed by our track Games from our eponymous previous album on Stadskanker.”

Pizza Noise Mafia is a Brussels-based electronic duo made up of Matthieu Levet (Carrageenan, Carcass Identity) and Thibault Gondard (TG Gondard, Colombey). Armed with just a drum machine and a synthesiser, their minimalist setup hasn’t stopped them from getting crowds dancing—from illegal basement raves to major festivals across Europe.

45''-59'' : Games, from the tape 'Pizza Noise Mafia' (Stadskanker 2022)

Autumn has arrived in all the warm colors and the hard times just begun, hence the title of this episode. We take a mango drive in the hopes to breathe as we're eight ways from Sunday. All the dreamscapes come alive in the stroboscope rays of the sun, yes we need more light. More room. Call the dub regulator to overcome our fears as we know that one day will be our last. In the midst of hope I call on all the basic channels to roll off. Let's dub the pain away. The magic exist. The energies exist. The intuition exists.

"The mixtape is a selection of pieces that have influenced my work, aside from academic and more known pieces in the history of electronic music. I curated this mixtape with a focus on pieces that employ texture and organic gestural dynamics as primary compositional elements, seeking works where the traditional boundaries between patterns and textures dissolve into more fluid, experiential sonic landscapes."

Farzané (Farzaneh Nouri), an Iranian sound artist, creative coder, and researcher based in the Netherlands, works at the intersection of experimental music and computer science. Her ongoing practice-based research focuses on embodied knowledge in human-computer free improvisation. Embracing AI’s fundamental otherness while establishing relational connections, her practice aims at creating conditions of genuine encounter and collaborative destabilization between the artist and the machine.
