The Liberal Dan Radio Program episodes

  • This one's for EWE
On the February 26, 2014 episode of Liberal Dan Radio
Old E.W.E, otherwise known as Edwin Edwards, the former governor of Louisiana and convicted felon is apparently mulling a run for Congress. When asked, Edwards stated that he didn't have any comment at this time. This is otherwise political speech for "yes, I intend to". Until we get a final answer from former Governor Edwards, I have some thoughts on the issue.
Last year the Louisiana food stamp program had an error which caused to some people to overcharge their cards for food. I will talk about how many people were punished for what the GOP calls rampant fraud and abuse.
Mardi Gras is coming up next week in the City of New Orleans. Some new laws have been passed to cover some activities along the parade route. I will talk about some of those and if they are good for the city.
And finally I have to talk about the Michael Dunn case. He was found guilty on most charges. I will explain why this isn't the travesty of justice that some are claiming as well as why it also doesn't mean that Florida is in the clear.
Those topics, tweet of the week, words of redneck wisdom, headlines and more tonight on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.

  • Lagniappe
On the February 12th Episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
I will be throwing the topics to you guys. If you feel like talking about something, bring it on. Open lines, open chat room... as long as you have open minds I welcome you to the debate.
If you do not call in I can talk about a variety of issues like the conviction of Ray Nagin and what it means for Louisiana and the perception of corruption and how that is often skewed.
If there is time I will also discuss today's ruling in KY requiring them to accept gay marriages from other states. I will discuss why the ruling doesn't completely overturn the KY marriage ban and what needs to happen from here.
All those topics plus tweet of the week, headlines, words of redneck wisdom and more tonight on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.
Also, I have enterred the small business, big grant contest by FedEx. Please remember to vote once a day, every day, until the end of the contest for Liberal Dan Radio.

  • The State of our Union is Strong
On the Wednesday January 29, 2014 episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
A recap of the State of the Union address. What was good? What was bad? How many GOP responses did they have and did they bring any discussion worthy of merit to the table?
Also, what was called the "sneauxpocalypse" was more like the "neauxpocalypse" (at least in New Orleans). I will talk about how the south is embarassingly incompetent in dealing with winter weather and why we should reconsider private control of our entergy infrastructure.
All that, tweet of the week, words of redneck wisdom, headlines and more tonight on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right!

  • Hookers For Vitter
On the January 22nd, 2014 episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
The worst kept secret in Louisiana politics was revealed this week. Louisiana's junior senator David Vitter has announced his candidacy for governor. Current governor Bobby Jindal is term limited and has to sit out a term before running again. Vitter is already pushing a "family values" campaign via his surrogates and that means the gloves come off when it comes to his involvement in the DC Madam scandal. Regardless of his "serious sins" I will go into why Vitter is bad for Louisiana. I will also explain why his own words make him inelligible to serve office according to his own standards.
Florida is at it again. Yet another shooting has taken place for no reason. Curtis Reeves, a former police captain, shot somebody over him sending text messages during the previews. And, of course, Reeves is claiming "self defense". Now, nobody can say if that claim will be successful in court until the trial happens. However, if it does, this will be evidence that Florida law is absolutely ridiculous.
A Milwaukee couple was running a private, Christian, voucher school and that school abruptly closed down last month. What students did they serve? What happens to them now? And where are the owners? The answers to at least some might surprise you.
All that plus and update on the New Orleans noise ordinance, headlines, tweet of the week, words of redneck wisdom, and more this week on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.

  • Bring The Noise
On the January 15th, 2014 episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
There is a proposed noise ordinance in the City of New Orleans that will be debated this week at City Hall. It will cover loud music in the French Quarter. Are local businesses allowing their music to play too loud? Or are people wanting to change the culture of New Orleans from what it is to something different? Is there a constitutional right to make noise? I will go into those issues and I plan to have guests on to discuss the issue.
I also plan on discussing the West Virginia chemical spill. Could it have been prevented? Why does this help prove that Republicans just don't have our best interests in mind.
Those issues, tweet of the week, words of redneck wisdom, headlines and more on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right!

  • Propaganda For Kids
On the January 8th, 2014 episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
First a shout-out to the Good Men Project for republishing my post about Phil Robertson and his comments about marrying 15 year olds. Go check out their site.
There is a picture going around Facebook that supposedly proves why Walmart cannot raise hourly wages to a minimum of $15 an hour. Perhaps you have seen it or not. Either way, I will debunk the image and show why none of the information on it should be believed.
Rapist from Steubenville, Ma'lik Richmond, was released from prison this past week. The statment from his lawyer was one of the most disgusting piece of rape apologia I have ever read. I will go over what was said and why the statement was completely irresponsible.
Finally, as a gag gift for the holidays, I received a coloring book that told me all about the wonder that is Ted Cruz. I have posted a few images on the show slideshow. Any parent who gets these kinds of coloring books for their children should be reported for child abuse. It is really sad.
All those topics plus headlines, words of redneck wisdom, tweet of the week and more this week on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.

  • Happy New Year 2014
On the first episode of Liberal Dan Radio for 2014:
Twitter is an interesting place and I ended 2013 with some interesting interactions. I will speak about a couple of them and review one of my previous blog posts that talks about being an imperfect advocate.
Phil Robertson has another video that popped up where he tells men how to find themselves a good wife. If you have not heard it yet, stay tuned because it is a hoot.
The days off that come with the holidays allowed me to watch some shows that I have not watched in a while. One of those is extreme couponing. Some of their actions on the show made me question the logic of how they are saving. Does saving money buying something you wont actually use really saving money? Do some of these people suffer from the "it's on sale" fallacy? Are some of these people really just hoarders?
And finally, I have asked some people to submit their #boldpredictionsfor2014. You can still submit yours or call in to the show to make them. I will go over some I came up with and talk a little about what this year has in store.
All those topics plus Words of Redneck Wisdom, Headlines, Tweet of the Week, and more tonight on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.

  • One Ducked Up Year
On the December 25th episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
This is the final eposide of the year so I will review the year and go over some of the good, the bad and the flat out ugly that took place over the course of the year. From the LAPD actions in hunting for Dorner, the SCOTUS arguments over same sex marriage and Prop 8, toll wars in New Orleans, the George Zimmerman verdict, Rodeo Clowns, the nuclear option,  Conservative insanity over keeping your doctor or keeping your plan, liberal spinlessness over defending those words and more.
Of course, I could not do this show without discussing the Phil Robertson controversy over his comments about homosexuality and race as well. So that will be one topic that will be covered.
All that, plus headlines, tweet of the week, words of redneck wisdom and more tonight on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.

  • The War Before Christmas
On this special Tuesday episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
I will be going into more detail about the War on Christmas. It is a really silly thing that happens every year but people like the Fox News types keep insisting that us liberals are after the holiday season. So I have come up with a little treat for you guys. Make sure to listen right from the start.
After that I will do the normal headlines and other standard bits (tweet of the week, words of redneck wisdom, etc) and then I will discuss this manufactured war on the holiday season.
If there is time I will also discuss some of the other recent news issues but I do want to focus mainly on the war and all the casualties that are falling by the wayside. The blood, the gore, the humanity.....
If you would like to discuss the show after the live airing, you can always go to liberaldan.com.

  • The November 2013 Episode
On the December 11th episode of Liberal Dan Radio:
This episode was planned to be done in November but, sickness and other issues delayed it until now. So the November episode is now in December! Huzzah!
George Zimmerman is at it again. He was arrested again. At what point does he lose his rights to carry a weapon? At what point do his apologists say "enough is enough"?
The insanity over the Affordable Care Act is continuing. It has caused me to create a new YouTube bit for the show. It is called Fat Man Rants. I will go over some of the points made in those videos. We also have people saying that the issues with the healthcare website are "Obama's Katrina". Yeah, I will lay into them too.
A Walmart store has started a food drive to help employees assist other employees who need help eating on Thanksgiving. If you cannot see why this is wrong, I will lay it out for you.
Earlier in the year, Governor Jindal cut funding to aid foster children once they turn 18 go to school and transition into adulthood by themselves. I am not sure how I missed this but I did not miss it tonight.
Plus I will speak a little about the "War on Christmas". Perhaps a preview of what I might talk about next week.
All those plus Words of Redneck Wisdom, Tweet of the Week, Headlines and more tonight on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.
