  • Against The Dead Consensus
So let me tell you about the origins of the French / Ahmani feud AKA the oddest political dustup in recent memory and why libertarians should care about the odd new conservatism that lead to it

  • Talking Immigration, With An Actual Immigration Lawyer – Interview with Matt Cameron
So I had a nice sit down with Matt Cameron, a practicing immigration lawyer and teacher who works in the Boston area and is also founder and co-chair of Golden Stairs Immigration, a non-profit providing legal services to non-citizens who cannot afford legal representation.

We talk about everything from "doing it legally" to the intersection of the immigration law and our criminal justice system to our shared hatred of ICE.

If you like Matt and would like to see more of him you can find him at @matt_cam and please check out Golden Stairs Immigration at @GoldenStairsImm

  • Mueller Testimony and Iran guest Steven Woskow
Steven Woskow returns to FPF for the July donors Livestream. Kyle and Steven start the show reviewing some highlight from Mueller's Congressional testimony. Mueller was a flop, appeared unknowable about his report, and disappointed many Russiagaters. Steven discussed some of his recent posts at the Libertarian Institute about Iran. Steven and Kyle explain the complexity of the Gulf tensions and how the actions of Western countries are pushing towards war.

Steven Woskow writes on the Libertarian Institute blog.

  • Mueller Time
On FPF #379, I discuss Russiagate and what we may expect from Mueller's House testimony. Mueller is unlike to give many important answers during his testimony. I debunk some big Russiagate myths and talk about what questions should be asked of Mueller.

I also cover a lack of reporting on airstrikes, Trump's relationship with the Lockheed CEO, and Trump's Afghan War policy.

  • 7/23/19 Pat Buchanan on America’s Endless Wars
Scott interviews Pat Buchanan about his life in politics and the lessons we can apply to today. Buchanan was a committed cold warrior during the 1980s, but then advocated withdrawal of the U.S. from Europe after the Soviet Union collapsed, and urged that NATO not expand up to Russia's border. Much of his advice has been ignored, and the consequences have been America's catastrophic and endless wars. Today, he is optimistic that we will not have a war with Iran, since he believes that President Trump knows what a bad idea that is, and because Iran does not want, and has never wanted, nuclear weapons. This takes the main excuse for war off the table.

    Discussed on the show:

"Averting a Middle East Holocaust" (C-SPAN.org)
    "Whose War?" (The American Conservative)
"Russiagate Is No Watergate" (Antiwar.com Original)
"Trump: War President or Anti-Interventionist?" (Antiwar.com Original)
"Is a New US Mideast War Inevitable?" (Antiwar.com Original)

Pat Buchanan is a former Republican presidential candidate and political analyst who advised Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Reagan. He is the author of Churchill, Hitler, and "The Unnecessary War": How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World and A Republic, Not an Empire: Reclaiming America's Destiny. • Iran Counters UK Aggression
On FPF #378, I discuss increasing tensions in the Persian Gulf as Iran seized a British ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's action was in response to the UK taking an Iranian ship. The piracy is apart of the increasing tensions between the West and Iran piloted by the Trump Administration. I explain how the US and UK are the aggressors in this conflict.

  • 7/17/19 Lyle J. Goldstein on the Consequences of War with Russia
Scott interviews Lyle J. Goldstein about what the "Russiagate" narrative means for America's relationship with Russia. Scott and Goldstein remind us that a hot war would probably mean the destruction of both American and Russian cities with tactical nukes, and possibly the devastation of human civilization all over the world. For that reason it's incredibly irresponsible of the media to push the narrative that the Russian government attacked our country during the 2016 election, and that any sign of President Trump's conciliation toward Putin is confirmation that he's a foreign agent.

    Discussed on the show:

"Europe Is Stuck between the United States and Russia" (The National Interest)
    Sevastopol Naval Base

Lyle J. Goldstein is Research Professor in the China Maritime Studies Institute (CMSI) at the United States Naval War College in Newport, RI. He is the author of Meeting China Halfway: How to Defuse the Emerging US-China Rivalry. Follow his work at The National Interest.

  • 7/17/19 Jason Ditz on Iran, Yemen, and Afghanistan
Jason Ditz updates Scott on the news from the Middle East. Recently, a missing Emirati tanker that some claimed had been seized by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz was revealed to have simply been towed there voluntarily for repairs. In other news, the UAE has announced the withdrawal of its troops from Yemen, probably realizing it can't win a ground war there, at least not without stretching itself too thinly and becoming exposed at home. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, seems content to keep fighting the war, since they want to ensure that the entire country is ruled by a friendly regime, or even a puppet ruler.

  • Rand Tries Diplomacy with Iran
On FPF #377, I discuss Senator Rand Paul's attempt to engage in talks with Iran. Rand played a round of gulf with Trump and got the go-ahead to talk with the Iranian foreign minister. While Trump still seems committed to his maximum pressure campaign, the realistic Paul and Zarif may be able to begin improving the US/Iranian relationship.

I update the Eric Garner murder. The police-involved will not be held responsible. I use this story to look at who should be held responsible for enforcing state policy.
