  • 2/15/19 Daniel McAdams on the Death of Congressman Walter Jones
Daniel McAdams remembers Congressman Walter Jones, who passed away last week. Jones initially supported the War in Iraq, but after realizing his mistake began trying everything in his power to atone for it. He wrote over 12,000 letters to killed and wounded soldiers and their families, and was a vocal opponent of subsequent wars. Jones' efforts were crucial in getting the House of Representatives to vote on ending U.S. support for the war in Yemen.

    Discussed on the show:

    "H.Con.Res.138" (Library of Congress)

  • 2/15/19 Ali Abunimah on the Israel Lobby’s Double Standard
Ali Abunimah comments on the recent controversy surrounding Minnesota's Representative Ilhan Omar and her tweets about the Israel lobby's influence in American politics. Unlike virtually any other lobby, explains Abunimah, AIPAC seems to be off limits in the public discourse. Even after fairly mild comments, like Omar's, the outrage runs rampant and backtracking and apologies are demanded. Scott and Abunimah wish Omar would have stuck to her guns instead.

    Discussed on the show:

  • FPF #311 – The Pentagon’s Slush Fund
On FPF #311, I discuss the Pentagon looking to grow the Overseas Contingency Operation fund. The OCO is considered to be a slush fund for the Pentagon. Growing instability in Africa and a lack of Congressional oversight on war powers allow the Pentagon to expand wars.

  • FPF #310 – Is Iranian Regime Change Next?
On FPF #310, I discuss Trump's Iran policy. In the first two years of Trump's presidency, his Iran policy has been a massive failure. Many of his top advisers are life-long Iran hawks who believe the key to American security regime change in Iran. I examine the possibility of the US taking an active role in overthrowing the government of Iran.
