In this week’s podcast episode I am talking about how to plan for staff holidays!
It is inevitable but we, as business owners need to plan well to ensure our businesses continue to grow when you or your team are on holiday.
In the next few weeks with my marketing assistant Mia being away we both need to plan ahead and next week we will be batching content so that we can schedule social media posts, emails and podcasts to ensure we continue to deliver great content for you guys.
If you are going to be away, what can you do to make it as painless as possible?
1. Phone calls - you need to make sure someone will answer them or use a answer service so that you can get back to clients on your return.
2. Setting up auto responders - perfect for your emails so that clients know you may not reply straightaway.
3. Communication - With clients and your team. Essential.
TOP TIP: Communication is key!
we have a freebie that can help with planning, check out our free productivity planner here: https://thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/building-success-productivity-planner/

In this week’s episode I am joined by Kate Charles Garden Design and we’re talking about how working with TLC has rocketed her business from 0-15 clients.
Kate has been a TLC member for 2 years now, she was struggling to get her name out there and was unsure of what marketing to do to get her brand new garden design business off the ground. She started off by joining a free masterclass and winning 6 months of free membership. ‘I very quickly learned that the membership was completely invaluable’
What was the main things that took you from 0-15 clients?
How do you find landscapers in your area to work with and get your gardens built?
Kate followed TLC tried and tested methods using lumpy mail and follow up calls to build relationships
Kate’s advice to people worried about getting clients:

In this week’s episode, I am joined by Sam and Dulcie from Selby Landscapes and we’re chatting about working together in your business as husband and wife and how TLC has helped them and their business move forward!
How do you work together and live together?
A big positive is being able to share this business journey together, the only downside is everything can turn into work 24/7. However this is managed through setting clear, agreed boundaries.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other landscapers?
Sam’s Advice: Outsourcing the small but time consuming tasks.
Dulcie’s Advice: Setting boundaries for yourself and finding something you enjoy outside of work.
How do you see TLC supporting you in your next step in your business?
‘I would say helping us refine those systems and processes, it’s nice to have that support in your journey as you go along too.’
Would you advise working with your other half in your business?
Definitely one hundred percent if they can bring with them a skill set that will improve the business to work together.
A reminder the TLC doors close on the 31st May for new members with prices increasing when we next open membership later in the year.

In this week’s episode I am joined by Rupert Keys and we’re talking all about Task Academy and the future of training in the industry.
Rupert Keys is the owner of Key Scape Design & Construction since 1993 and TASK Academy. When lockdown began in March and everyone was at home, he had time to concentrate more on TASK which is a brand new training provider for land based studies. Offering courses from natural stone paving to health and safety.
Why should you choose TASK over other training providers?
We are all trying to do the same thing and we should all come together to make sure people are getting to the same standards in the industry. However, TASK has many different industry and training partners to get a different perspective on various subjects this collaborative approach makes us fairly unique.
‘Investing in your staff = investing in your business’
Rupert is at RHS Chelsea this year and has a full diary of show gardens and interesting collaborations planned.
TASK Academy is officially opening on the 16th July, check out their website below for more details.

In this weeks episode I am sharing with you something that has really helped myself and my business grow…outsourcing!
Do you outsource any tasks in your business or personal life? Outsourcing is a fancy term to say you basically get someone else to do certain things that you do not enjoy doing or want to spend time doing.
What can I outsource?
You could outsource payroll, tax returns, creating content plans, SEO, social media, ads etc. You can outsource pretty much any task.
But why should you outsource?
Outsourcing tasks allows you to spend time doing other things! Whether that is spending more time with your family, working ON the business rather than in it or freeing up some time for yourself - this is the only way to get your business growing.
The first step is identifying what do you love doing in your business and what you hate doing. For example; I love talking to TLC members and supporting them however, I dislike doing all the admin tasks so I outsource this.
You need to work on your business if you want it to uplevel and grow and get you to the life you have always dreamed of.

In this week’s podcast episode I am talking all about boundaries.
If you are a garden designer or landscaper you can often find yourself feeling stuck and then frustrated that you aren’t getting anywhere fast. One thing that can help is setting some serious boundaries for yourself and (most importantly) in your business.
Putting boundaries around your time and not getting distracted from what you’re planning to do that day is the first step. If you allow distractions in this can make you feel like you’re not moving forward in your business.
Do you start work on the tools and then get a call to then be pulled away to do something else and solve your teams problems? If so, at the end of the day you will feel like you haven't accomplished what you had hoped.
People say there is never the right time to …leave your job, change your habits, relocate, have a family, etc the list is never ending and you are always waiting.
Don't wait to make an impact in your business and develop and grow it into what you want it to be!
Boundary setting is where it all begins.
You guys really are limitless, especially when you set your mind to it!

In this week’s podcast episode I am talking about some key learnings I think you are interested in right now. We looked at the top blogs you guys have viewed over the past 90 days and pulled out the key learnings to apply to you and your business.
We was looking at these to see what key issues you are coming up against and what you’re trying to find out in this busy time.
1. Recruitment was the top most viewed which didn’t surprise me because we are in the most busiest of periods with loads of enquiry's coming in and trying to find the right staff for your business seems to be a hot topic! See the full blog below: https://thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/recruitment/
2. Converting sales was the next one which maybe because you’re getting enquiry's in but they are not the best quality so conversion is lower.
Key tip is to follow up and don’t stop following up until they say to stop, this can be by calling them or sending them an email to reach out and see how they feel about the quote etc.
See the full blog below:
https://thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/convert-your-quotes-intosales/
3. Can a landscaping business be profitable was the next one and it definitely can be. My number one piece of advice to you is to start with a cashflow forecast and get to know your numbers, see your break even point, your overheads etc.
See the full blog below: https://thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/landscaping-be-profitable/
4. Not all coaches are created equally which is obviously correct! Here at TLC we offer coaching for business owners running businesses in the horticultural industry with group coaching sessions every month. The next session is 25th April, come along and join fellow members.
See the full blog below: https://thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/not-all-training-courses-or-coaches-are-created-equal/
