When the fifth episode of Star Trek: Picard, “Stardust City Rag,” was released, it immediately became one of the most talked about and controversial episodes in Star Trek’s 53-year history. A main focus of the discussion and controversy was the first scene, in which Icheb—returned as a Starfleet officer—suffers a brutal dismemberment and a heart-wrenching death.
