This week on The Maggie Williams Podcast, I’m sitting down with Diego Olaguibel to recap the hunt he has dreamed about for years: his once-in-a-lifetime moose hunt in Northern British Columbia.

Diego was able to pick up the hunt for an unbelievable deal at a Dallas Safari Club auction during the DSC Summer Expo, and what started as a dream on paper turned into 11 incredible days in the mountains. We talk about what the experience was really like, the country, the challenges, the people, the moments he’ll never forget, and what it meant to finally live out a hunt he had pictured for so long.

We also catch up on life lately because, somehow, fall has already become complete chaos in the best way. We just celebrated my 25th birthday, both of our dogs had puppies, we both have brand-new pups in our lives, and we’re trying to keep our heads on straight between puppy duty, traveling, and getting ready for hunting season.

It’s a little bit moose hunting, a little bit life update, and a whole lot of us trying to keep up with one of the busiest and most exciting seasons of our lives.

Macy is a Georgia native, lifelong outdoorswoman, and content creator now living in Alabama with her husband, Slade. She is in such a beautiful new season of life, embracing marriage, cooking, gardening, and the ministry that begins inside her home while still actively pursuing the outdoors and continuing to build an incredible career.

We recorded this episode at Prairie Wildlife in West Point, Mississippi, a beautiful sporting property rooted in conservation, wildlife habitat, wingshooting, and Southern hospitality.

We also talk about the Fox Hole Shootout and the legacy of Mr. Fox Haas. His impact continues today through an event that raises money for organizations including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Catch A Dream, Gamekeeper Grants, and Sportsmen Organized for Law Enforcement.

Macy shares about her brand new podcast, Dear Y’all, her first velvet buck in Tennessee, her Georgia roots, and her transition into life in Alabama.

We go back to her years playing travel softball, earning a college athletic scholarship, attending military school, and how sports shaped her discipline and work ethic. Macy also shares how she felt God led her to get involved with Ducks Unlimited in college and how that decision helped shape the career and community she has today.

We also talk about what we hope the future looks like for women in the outdoors. Making hunting feel more inclusive, showing up with confidence and authenticity, finding your people, being willing to be new at something, and refusing to compete with other women.

More than anything, this is a conversation about being comfortable with every part of who you are. Being feminine does not make you less of an outdoorswoman. Being a wife does not mean giving up your passions. Being successful does not mean another woman has to lose.

And through all of it, Macy remains unapologetic about her faith and sharing God’s love in every part of her life.

This week on The Maggie Williams Podcast, I finally have somebody sitting across from me who has been a part of a ridiculous number of my hunting stories over the last year — THIS IS DIEGO!!!

Diego has hunted his entire life across North America and worldwide. He owns and operates Yukkutz Hunting in Mexico, has completed his World Slam of wild turkeys, and is currently working toward one of the coolest goals in waterfowl hunting: harvesting all 41 huntable North American waterfowl species.

But this episode is about a whole lot more than checking species off a list.

We talk about growing up hunting in Mexico, how his love for the outdoors eventually became his career, what it’s really like running a hunting operation and guiding hunters for a living, horses, turkey hunting, waterfowl, and some of the incredible places hunting has taken him across North America.

And, of course, we get into our hunts together.

Diego was there for some of the biggest moments of my turkey season, including my Ocellated hunt and ultimately watching me complete my World Slam with my Gould’s turkey in Mexico. Somewhere along the way, we went from him watching my hunts to actually hunting together — from incredible duck hunts in Mexico to chasing spring turkeys together from the West Coast to the East Coast!

We talk about the hunts that went perfectly, the ones that absolutely did not, the people we’ve met along the way, and why some of the best memories have very little to do with pulling the trigger.

This is a fun one. It’s hunting, travel, Mexico, ducks, turkeys, outfitting, relationships, and a whole lot of stories from two people who somehow keep finding an excuse to plan another hunt.

In this episode of The Maggie Williams Podcast, I’m joined by one of my best friends and favorite adventure partners, Sydney Cole—and this one is full of laughs, wild stories, and a whole lot of firsts.

We kick things off by talking about my newfound love for riding horses. Thanks to Sydney (our resident barrel racer), I’ve officially stepped into the cowgirl era. The real question is—will I be making my barrel racing debut this summer? Jury’s still out… but she’s working on me.

I’m turning Sydney into a turkey hunter… and she’s turning me into a cowgirl.

From there, we dive into the NWTF Convention, which brought in a record-breaking 94,426 attendees this year—an incredible testament to how strong and passionate the hunting community really is. And that’s where this story really begins.

At NWTF, we met Diego Olaguibel, owner and operator of Yukkutz Hunting—and what started as a conversation quickly turned into an invitation we couldn’t pass up. Not long after, we found ourselves in Mexico experiencing the blue-winged teal hunt of a lifetime—the kind of hunt you dream about but can’t fully put into words until you live it. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better… plans shifted, doors opened, and we had the opportunity to pursue one of the most beautiful and unique birds in the world—the ocellated turkey.

It’s hard to even describe how special that experience was. The landscape, the culture, the people—it all came together in a way that reminded us just how big this lifestyle really is, and how grateful we are to be a part of it.

Buck shares his background as a trapper, how he got started, and why trapping continues to shape the way he hunts and views conservation. As a law student, Buck also gives listeners insight into how he balances a full-time job, his studies, and a life filled with hunting and trapping. 

The two dive into fur-bearing animals in Arkansas, trapping tactics, and what really matters on the trapline. They also walk through a full day of trapping together, what setups worked, and the lessons learned along the way.
