Everyone wears a mask.  No, not a covid mask.  A metaphorical one.  And also a covid one, at least for now.  As kids, we dress up as fictional characters.  Sometimes as adults too.  More commonly, we simply pretend to be someone we're not.  Not a character, but an idealized version of ourselves.  Unfortunately, that kind of mask only helps protect our psyche from the harsh realities of the world.  It doesn't stop the spread of airborne diseases.  Stylish Costco jeans serve much the same purpose.
