This week on The Gralien Report Podcast, we begin our discussion with an examination of recent stories involving things falling from the sky, including strange metallic spheres discovered in Vietnam (similar to those found late last year in Spain), as well as an ancient meteorite discovered recently in Australia, which was discovered using some of the most state-of-the-art meteor tracking technologies. And speaking of tracking space objects, NASA has opened their own office aimed at watching the skies for potential threats from doomsday-style asteroids.

While we’re on the subject of things falling from the sky, it’s only proper to acknowledge the passing of “The Man Who Fell to Earth”, David Bowie. Throughout his life, he was an influential musician and artist, who blurred the lines between musical styles, as well as art and performance, and even gender politics. However, Bowie’s interests in science fiction and the ideas of alien life weren’t relegated to his onstage persona as “Ziggy Stardust”; in fact, David Bowie had maintained more than just a passing interest in the subject of UFOs, as we will examine during a special segment where we remember Bowie, his life, and his unique interests.

Also joining us to discuss his personal experiences with Bowie is rock ‘n’ roll journalist and UFO researcher Timothy Green Beckley, who in addition to writing about Bowie himself, was also mentioned by Bowie in the late singer’s autobiography due to their mutual esoteric interests.

Then shifting gears, in hour two we look at the idea espoused by astrophysicist and computer scientist Jacques Vallee that UFOs, and belief in them, may be something cult groups have utilized over the decades in a variety of potentially harmful ways. We examine the overlap between modern cult groups, their members, and UFO research spanning the last few decades, and give consideration to how the myths associated with UFO belief have influenced such groups over time.

This week on The Gralien Report Podcast, as we begin our final show of 2015, news from around the world that we feature this week includes studies of nature’s many-armed mysteries… namely the hydra, which according to one study, may indeed be immortal. We also examine the most recent footage (and by far the best to-date) of a giant squid off the coast of Japan. But could the greatest mystery relating to the giant squid actually have to do with its size, and whether the “giant” is really as large as scientists once believed?

Turning our attention to other matters, a group of Harvard Researchers believe they have an idea about how to better manage and record statistics about deaths involving police shootings… and it may be one of the most unique proposals we’ve come across on the subject. Then looking back over the big stories of 2015, this year has been a huge year for new discoveries about ancient humans, as well as the structures they built, and the lives they led. Discoveries from the last twelve months ranged from new knowledge about England’s most enigmatic megalithic site Stonehenge, to possible discovery of new branches of the ancient human family.

Finally, rounding out or review of 2015, we examine an enigmatic stone in Canada known as the Peterborough Stone, and theories about who its ancient creators may have been. Micah also notes the stone’s similarities to the megalithic stone known as Judaculla Rock, which has long been held in similar regard for the questions about its age and origins. The markings on each stone are indeed similar, but is there any more to it than this?

This week on The Gralien Report, we have news that veteran late-night broadcaster Art Bell has hung up his microphone (again), and this time for good. We go into the reasons for this, before shifting our attention to Elon Musk’s latest efforts to save humanity from evil artificial intelligence. Then, has a filmmaker released conclusive proof that the Apollo moon landing was faked by filmmaker Stanley Kubrick? Hardly… not only did the moon landing occur, the videos touted by some as proof that they were faked by the late Eyes Wide Shut director clearly give away the gag. We’ll go over how this hoax managed to garner so much attention, and why the moon landing hoax theory remains so popular today among conspiracy theorists.

Then in hour two, we examine a famous early-twentieth century incident that led to the disappearance of three men under unusual circumstances. Known as the Flannan Isles disappearance, it remains one of the most unusual cases of strange disappearances ever recorded. Then, turning our attention to the disappearance of Kenny Veach, we tell the tale of an experienced hiker who went missing in the Sheep Mountains near Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada in late 2014. The circumstances he described in the last video he uploaded to his YouTube channel tell of Veach’s fascination, and ongoing search, for a strange “M-shaped cave” which had frightened him upon his first discovery, and may have even spurred an obsession that led to his end. Finally, why are businessmen (and political dissidents) going missing in China? Sadly, with the political climate in the East, it takes little imagination to guess why…
