In 2004, the Star Trek franchise was undergoing a period of feeling tired, old and worn out. Star Trek: Enterprise was in its third season, and facing cancellation. However, a video game flew under the radar that not a lot people played. Published by TDK Mediactive and developed by Starsphere Interactive, Star Trek: Shattered Universe brought the Mirror Universe into fans' homes on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles. Critical reception was poor, but the continuity and easter eggs for TOS fans was worthy of fans picking it up despite the difficulty. Starring George Takei as Hikaru Sulu and Walter Koenig as Pavel Chekov, what could be wrong?

In this episode of The Minnesota Star Trek Nerd, Wes Huntington attempts to review this much maligned game of the Star Trek game library. He tries to give a final rating based on gameplay, voice acting, and attempts to put it all for you that maybe a retro gamer wouldn't mind playing.

There have been numerous Star Trek video games, ranging from the simple ones that appeared in text form in the 1970s to Star Trek Online that came out in 2010 and beyond. In this episode of The Minnesota Star Trek Nerd, Wes Huntington attempts to bring it in to perspective his Star Trek gaming journey. Ranging from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the Star Trek: The Next Generation that was released in the early 1990s, to Star Trek Online and everything in between, it is the first of many episodes dealing with reviews of the Star Trek gaming library that he currently owns.

In September 2017, Star Trek fans had a choice, to either watch Seth MacFarlane's sci-fi adventure show The Orville or waiting for CBS's Star Trek: Discovery. The debate about whether one or the other was Star Trek sparked controversy on social media, and the debate continues to this day.

On this first of many Supplemental Opinion episodes, Wes Huntington attempts to explain that you don't have to choose between Star Trek: Discovery or The Orville, instead you can choose to support both series and have a win-win situation for you.
