The Mission Mama episodes

  • Nourishment, Grief, and Letting Go

Today’s episode is a heartfelt, personal reflection from my recent weekend retreat at Wild Rice with my dear friend. This time away wasn’t just relaxing—it was deeply restorative. We laughed, cried, journaled, sipped coffee, and shared in the healing that comes from being seen and understood in our grief.

In this episode, I’m opening up about how this experience helped me reconnect with myself, recognize limiting beliefs I’ve carried for too long, and remember that I’m not alone. I share some changes I’m making in my daily life—letting go of pressure, chasing rest instead of perfection, and tuning into what my body truly needs.

If you're navigating grief, burnout, or just craving more connection in your life, this episode is for you.

At the end, I’ll leave you with a few gentle reflection prompts to carry into your week.

✨ Grief evolves—but so does our capacity to heal.
✨ You are allowed to be seen. You are enough.

  • Embracing Soul-Care

Welcome back to the Mission Mama podcast. I’m your host, Danielle Duffey, Southern Minnesota farm wife, Army veteran, and mother to four beautiful kiddos, including my angel son, Blake.

Today, I want to talk about something that’s been weighing on my heart—grief. It’s emerged in this season in ways I didn’t expect. Sometimes, I hesitate to admit it because there never seems to be time to process those feelings. It’s not just the school transition or the harvest season that feels overwhelming; it’s the shadow of grief lurking beneath it all.

Let this be a reminder: progress over perfection. With each passing day, we’re making life work. We are making progress, and that’s what truly matters.

It’s a new day. Let’s take a big deep breath and be present in this moment.

I felt called to record this episode before we head out for a few days away. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, truly expansive in ways I could never have imagined.

Just when I thought no one was listening to this podcast, a few women reached out to say that the recent episodes were inspiring. Your encouragement means so much—I truly appreciate it. You know who you are.

As I reflect on how I arrived at this moment, I realize that grief is the ultimate teacher. Moving forward after loss is no small feat, but I want to confidently say that if you’re walking through grief, you can and will move forward. You might feel like you’re lost in the clouds right now, and that’s okay. Grief shouldn’t be rushed, even though we often feel like it should be. After all, grief is the ultimate sacrifice for love. • Finding Purpose Through Grief

Welcome to the Mission Mama Podcast. I’m Danielle Duffey—Grief Educator, Army Veteran, Southern Minnesota Farm Wife, and proud mother of four beautiful children, including my angel son Blake. Thank you for joining me today as we dive into a topic close to my heart." I’m a compassionate connector for women who have experienced deep grief. My life experiences have led me to start this podcast as a therapeutic expression to share wisdom and life lessons after the loss of a child. Life can, and will, move forward after loss.

Thank you for being here. Let’s dive into this episode.

“If you have breath, you have purpose.” Tim Tebow Foundation. The Ed Mylett podcast this morning literally has me in tears because it’s so powerful.

Life is bigger than us. God put it on my heart to support others in grief, and I can’t resist it anymore. This isn’t the life I ever imagined it to be, but I am here for it.

Through my grief, I desire to support others in their own grief. One of the most challenging steps forward in grief that I’ve come to realize is supporting yourself. Healing is important to move forward, and for me, journaling has been an extremely therapeutic practice in my journey.
