  • How To Avoid Losing Progress During Quarantine | Minisode #24

One concern I keep hearing from people is: "I'm worried about losing my progress since I don't have any equipment to use."

Whether it's muscle loss, fat gain, strength and power loss, or even just mental instability — people are worried, probably just like you are. And it's understandable, but luckily our bodies are resilient specimen and won't give up your gains that easily. We may not have as much to fear as we think, especially if we stay proactive and keep our focus on the right things.

In this Minisode, I break down those right things so you can stay on task, put your effort towards what really matters to avoid losing any progress during this time, and maybe even get ahead. Hope it helps!

  • Jared Hamilton — What To Focus On While Quarantined (Fitness & Life Advice) | MTFP Ep.58

In this episode with Jared, we got to go down some rabbit holes that I haven't touched on before. We're all trying to figure out ways to stay productive and healthy during this time of quarantine, and I think we touched on a few that you may not have considered yet. Most importantly, we talked about his newfound love for cigars and my new found love for wine, and how these vices play a role in our lives. Obviously, everyone has their own vice, but how you balance and maintain control of these vices is something that I was excited to chat about that I hadn't before.

Jared is always a positive and down-to-earth guy who I love talking with, so I'm sure this won't be the last time you hear him on the show. Hope you enjoy!

  • 5 Rules For Perfect At-Home Nutrition | Minisode #23

Last Minisode I talked about the 5 rules for a perfect at-home workout, so I wanted to cover nutrition on this one. There are few things we have control of during this time, but the food we eat is one of them. That being said, I don't expect everyone to be counting every calorie and making sure they eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies per day when they have real shit going on. So, to make things as easy as possible, I decided to give 5 super practical and simple rules to implement to keep your nutrition on track. You don't need militant structure, but having *some* type of structure can go a long way and this Minisode will explain how. Hope it helps.

  • 5 Rules For A Perfect At-Home Workout | Minisode #22

If you're going to be stuck doing at-home workouts, you at least need to make sure they're as effective and efficient as possible. Most of you will be limited with the equipment you can use or the variety of exercises at your disposal, but the principles of muscle-building and fat-loss still remain the same, you just have to adapt them to your current situation.

In this Minisode, I go over exactly how to do that and give you specific examples to implement to your workout routine right away (even if you only have your bodyweight as your gym). Hope it helps.

  • Nick Sorrell — Don't Be A Dickhead: How To Be Happier, Make More Money, & Survive Coronavirus | MTFP Ep.57

Nick made a return on the show and once again he provides no real value. Well, he provides no real value if you are, in fact, a dickhead. If you're NOT a dickhead, you'll enjoy this one! You'll enjoy it because we get into *why* it's actually beneficial to be a good person. Not just in the "woo woo, love everyone" type of way, but in the way that will make you more money, make you happier, and be more successful in all areas of life. And, of course, we also had a Silly Goose Time with plenty of self-deprecation and bashing one another.

Nick is a homie and his wit plus wisdom always makes for a special episode — and once again he didn't miss the mark. I promise you won't regret giving this one a listen. Hope you enjoy!

  • How To Remain Calm In Chaos | Minisode #21

Very strange times right now with this Coronavirus. Pandemics causing uncertainty, people getting laid off, and we can't even visit some friends and family due to social distancing. It's basically the definition of chaos. But just because things are chaotic, it doesn't mean we are powerless. We still have plenty of control in our lives and we should take advantage of the things we CAN do, instead of focusing on things we CAN'T do.

Easier said than done, but I think after listening to this Minisode, you'll have a few practical strategies to start implementing right away to get you through this hard time and reduce your anxiety, uncertainty, and lack of action. Hope it helps.

  • Too Tired From Work to Workout? Try This. | Minisode #20

We all know the feeling of coming home after a long day at work, telling ourselves we're going to hit the gym, but we need to lay down for just a minute. But then that minute becomes five minutes. Then that five minutes turns into skipping the gym entirely. Once again, our self-rationalization and lack of willpower seems to get the best of us, which makes us feel guilty and lazy. I've been a victim of this and so have many of the clients I've worked with, but luckily, there are some ways to combat this repetitive struggle. In this Minisode, I suggest 5 different approaches to stop shooting yourself in the foot and to get your ass to the gym no matter what. Hope you enjoy!

  • Des B — Becoming An Influencer, Serving Your People, & Avoiding The Comparison Trap | MTFP Ep.56

At only 24 years old, Des is killing the game on all fronts: business, fitness, life, love, and more. We had a great conversation, starting with her athletic background as a collegiate volleyball player, then transitioning into her blow-up on social media, and finally diving into how she handles being a legit business owner.

She has an entire team of people on her payroll, including her own sister, so I had to ask questions about how she coped with the pressure of these responsibilities at such a young age. And even with her success, she still compares herself to others and falls victim to not feeling like enough, which I had to explore more as well. Lastly, she revealed her dream job outside of fitness—let's just say Ellen DeGeneres needs to watch out. This episode was a little shorter than normal, but it was a great one nonetheless. Enjoy!

  • How To Gain Muscle & Add Lean Size | Minisode #19

In this Minisode, I discuss the ugly, red-headed stepchild of the fitness industry: how to gain weight. But there's a right way and a wrong way to add lean mass, so you want to make sure you avoid some crucial mistakes so you don't end up adding more body fat than necessary. I go over appropriate rates of weight gain, how many calories and protein to eat each day, types of food that are best for muscle gain, and training practices that are optimal for muscle growth. If you're a "hardgainer" or just someone who wants to pack on lean muscle without the excess fat gain, this is the Minisode for you. Enjoy!

  • Your Apple Watch Is Wrong: Stop Tracking Calories Burned | Minisode #18

Lily asks: "Should I trust how many calories my Fitbit tells me I burn daily? I’d like to be in a slight surplus to gain muscle but I walk super often so my calories burned for day can be high. Also, what about eating to hit my higher macros when my activity is lower?"

People love sharing how many calories they burned after a hard workout. Taking pictures of their treadmill or Apple Watch or Fitbit — it's a badge of honor. But this Minisode is here to shit on that badge of honor, because it's probably inaccurate. This is a hard truth, but there's been some research done on these devices that measure calories burned and they're simply not reliable. If you've been using your calories burned to dictate how much you should or shouldn't eat each day, or if you've been "eating back" calories burned, and you can't seem to make any progress...this Minisode is for you. Enjoy!
