We're ready to start a great week and we're especially excited for a chat with Tauren Wells tomorrow. As it was Mother's Day, yesterday, Bill shared a gift idea for new moms. 

Some listeners in Tennessee got a shaky start to their weekend with a 4.1-magnitude earthquake. 

Dave's a big fan of American Idol and after he gave us the update on last night's episode, he started to tell us about a new song from Danny Gokey. 

Carmen's youngest daughter, Abbey, has started making sourdough and she gave some to Carmen for Mother's Day. 

Fans of Dutch Bros. started going to their new Tampa location which held a grand opening this weekend. So many went, that Carmen had to delay her plans to go. 

It's never to late to start or stop learning as Bill pointed to article highlighting 5 ways to keep learning after college. 

Carmen has started to realize that her favorite genre of literature is historical fiction. 

An 8-year-old wanted to start a carnival for his friends. One purchase put a stop to his privileges on mom's phone. 

Dave was proud of himself for purchasing and scheduling a Mother's Day flower delivery for his mom. That is, until he learned he picked the wrong day. 

One letter will put a stop to any text thread with certain generations. And when we discussed that, we started to  get a lot of texts with feedback.

After we shared parts of our conversation with Matt Maher from earlier this week, we learned that Carmen cleaned out her closet and found her old Flip Vid which was all the rage when they were new. But it's not much good since it's dead. 

Bill shared some good quotes from 2nd graders answering questions about their moms. 

Dave is interested in a new option to get to work, but the price tag is a bit much. He did learn of a cheaper option though. 

The Roman Catholic Church has a new Pope. Bill shared some thoughts on the man now known as Pope Leo XIV. The closed captioning from his speech was not good! We also learned that his childhood home in the suburbs of Chicago has been up for sale. It was last purchased a year ago by a house flipper and is as good as new now! 

Online shopping isn't new, but it is to Bill. He's still trying to figure out sizing and brand names. 

Jules shared a story about a recent visit to a church while her family was on vacation. And it wasn't a good experience. But she did have some good memories of a neighbor who recently passed.

Today's show will get you thinking as Bill shares a favorite C.S. Lewis quote  to start us off. There's a lot of thinking and praying happening at The Vatican as the conclave works to  find the next Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. 

Bill had Carmen listen to a sermon from his pastor on contentment and it got her thinking about a few different areas in her life that she struggles with. 

We think the world of the all the follks that are putting in the work to get our new building ready. 

Many are thinking about the end of WWII as today is V-E Day. And that got Bill thinking about how it relates to the Christian life. 

Are you thinking about summer vacation yet? If so, have you thought about all the things you need to do to prepare the house for your abscence. 

Bill saw a couple of pictures of Banff that compared it over time and it had him thinking about Carmen's trip to the vacation destination. 

What do you think about paying more than $300/person to attend someone's wedding? Carmen posed that question as some couples are turning to that option to pay for their destination wedding. 

Dave told us how Bart Millard shared the thought process behind the making of MercyMe's song, Oh Death. And that prompted a few thoughts on grief.

Matt Maher joined us in the studio this morning to catch up, share some laughs and a new song. Before he came in, Dave was a little miffed about his deleted messages box not being empty in his email. 

The messages from our Midweek Praise Break were awesome. This week we heard How Great Thou Art, Firm Foundation, and Blessed Assurance. 

There were some humorous messages from 2nd graders when asked about their moms. And there's another humorous message from one mom on Instagram sharing what moms want on Mother's Day. 

At last night's Bible Study, Carmen's group went off script and there were a ton of messages in the lessons they learned. 

Just as we sat down with Matt Maher, Carmen got a text from a mutual friend, Brandon Heath, saying hi to everyone!

Carmen shared some thoughts on generosity and that led Bill to share about his experience with Compassion International. 

There are some Biblical names from the Old Testament that don't get a lot of compassion or used as names for babies these days. 

Dave did share how his grandson, Everett, came to be named. 

Jules shared her experience of visiting a church while on vacation out of state and how she realized she needed to be a bit more generous with her time and compassionate to those she doesn't know at church. She also realized how much more generous she should be with her time with the people she knows as well. 

Dave heard so much talk about Cinco De Mayo that he placed a DoorDash order for dinner and got a generous helping of chips and queso in addition to the meal he ordered. 

Dave also shared how one contestant showed compassion towards another contestant just as they were about to learn who would be eliminated. 

Bill discussed compassion through the story of Leah Sharibu and asked for prayer for her. 

BIll is known for not getting a generous amount of sleep and Carmen shared some effects that sleep deprivation can have on the body. 

Some states are more generous with their bank accounts than others as Bill shared a study that looked at the easiest (and hardest) states to save money in. 

Dave's youngest son wants to be more generous with his time with family so he invested in a robot mower.

Dave was in need of new sheets so he made the purchase, but Carmen and Bill needed to know things like brand and thread count. 

As today is Cinco De Mayo, you may need to find a good local Mexican restaurant to dine at today or you may need Carmen's recipe for Street Corn Nachos. 

Dave needed to spray down a tree with an anti-fungal treatment but he's got an issue reaching the top of the tree. 

Carmen thought she needed to purchase some more hangers over the weekend but what she really needed to do was clean out her closet.

A couple of kids needed some legal advice to perform one of Brandon Lake's songs for a school event. 

Carmen needed the help of our "Genius Bar" to fix an issue with Siri and her location setting.

Bill got an alert on his phone yesterday and he just had to check it out, only to learn about a new obsession with gliders. And while he was alone in the studio, he found a few listeners on the text line that also wanted to check it out.

Carmen shared how a group of moms known as MAHA are encouraging companies like PepsiCo to get the dyes out. Bill told us about an app that will help you check on food products and cosmetics to see the health impact they have. 

Until recently, Dave's youngest son has never sent a check in the mail! And it must be a generational thing as many in his generation would prefer to go without making a phone call and/or having a face-to-face meeting.
