This week we look at Peter's commands in 1 Peter 4:1-11. From the passage we see:

1) We are to live armed with Christ-like thinking

2) We are to live self-controlled and sober-minded in prayer

3) We are to live in earnest love for one another and showing hospitality to one another without grumbling

4) We are to live in service towards one another with our varied gifts

5) We are to live for the glory of God by speaking from God’s Word and serving in God’s strength

This week we look at 1 Peter 3:8-22. We see from the the text that:

1) The set apart have been called to:

1. Unity of mind

2. Sympathy

3. Familial love towards one another

4. Tender heart

5. Humble mindset

2) The set apart have been called to bless even in the midst of suffering and evil

3) The set apart have been called to honor Jesus Christ the Lord as holy

• Christians are to be bold, peaceful, and always prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks for a reason for the hope

4) The set apart have been called to trust in the victory and sovereign rule of Jesus

This week we look at Peters commands to wives and husbands in 1 Peter 3:1-7. From the text we see:

1) Wives are to be subject to their own husbands:

1. Submission is missional

2. Submission is beautiful in God’s sight

3. Submission is how holy women who hope in God adorn themselves

2) Husbands are to live with their wives according to knowledge:

1. Husbands are to show honor to their wives

2. Husbands prayers may be hindered if not

We continue our study through 1 Peter looking at 1 Peter 2:13-25. Peter teaches us that as elect exiles we are to submit ourselves to every human institution for the Lord's sake and suffer well as we follow in the footsteps of Christ.

This week we continue our study through 1 Peter looking at 1 Peter 2:1-12. From the passage we see three main principles:

1) God’s chosen people, those who have tasted that the Lord is good, are to long for the Word to grow up

2) God’s chosen people come to Jesus, being built up as God’s temple to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices

3) God’s chosen people are called to proclaim the excellencies of God and keep their conduct honorable so that others may glorify God

This week we examine 1 Peter 1:13-25. From the passage we see these main truths:

1) As God is holy, He has called His elect exiles to be holy

- Holiness: We are set apart from sin by God, to God, and for God

2) As God is judge, He has called His elect exiles to conduct themselves with fear

3) As God causes the new birth, He has called His elect exiles to love one another earnestly

This week we study 1 Peter 1:3-12 looking at the realities of the gospel and responses to the gospel. From the passage we see 5 responses to the gospel:

1) Rejoicing in the gospel

2) Love for Jesus Christ

3) Belief in Jesus Christ

4) Rejoicing with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory

5) Proclaiming the gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit

In the first sermon of our study through the book of 1 Peter we look at the opening greeting and blessing found in 1 Peter 1:1-2. From the passage we glean three main truths:

1) All disciples of Jesus are elect exiles

2) All disciples of Jesus are elect exiles according to the foreknowledge and election of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and growth in holiness

3) All disciples of Jesus are set apart in receiving abundant grace and peace

In our final week through our Core Values we look at mission. In the message we seek to answer these questions:

1) What is our mission?

2) What does it mean to value mission?

3) If we value mission, what will it look/sound like?

In the third week through our series through our core values we focus on community. This week we look at:

1) What is gospel community?

2) What does it mean to value community?

3) How do we build/kill community?

4) If we value community, what will it look/sound like?
