The Mountains and the Sea Reviews Prince

This is a RELOADED episode of the discussion of the SUPER LONG and completely fantastic Love Symbol Album. At the time of original release, we didn't include song clips - but now we do! Josh and Christy talk about the merits of what amounts to 76 minutes of a love story. A love story about what or who? Well, it's about many different things, it turns out.

One pretty but disappointing website, one venue with THREE concerts in an evening, and two concerts at a jazz festival. There may not have been a tour for LOtUSFLOW3R, but Prince was PERFORMING. We talk about LOtUSFLOW3R.com, the Club Nokia performance at LA Live and both 2009 shows at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival in the final episode on LOtUSFLOW3R. Just because we have covered all the disks from LOtUSFLOW3R doesn't mean we are done. Prince was a busy, busy man. Videos, promotional appearances, download only tracks, and an interview with Tavis Smiley. Join us for a funky ride, friends.

The final full disk of the 3-album set of LOtUSFLOW3R is Elixer by Prince and Bria Valente. Prince has his fingerprints all over this protege album, but he was free to be a bit more... explicit in his themes and innuendo. Josh and Christy find the time capsule, the Sea, and the Mountain (there are some delightfully high spots here!). Join us for a funky ride, friends.

It's a new release! But not "new" music. The Prince estate released Piano & A Microphone 1983 and Josh and Christy spend an episode talking about the joy and sadness of a posthumous album. Some old favorites make an early appearance and some perviously unreleased tracks finally get an official release. The music - coupled with the Deluxe set features and a music video for Mary Don't you Weep - give our hosts plenty to enjoy and discuss. Join us for a funky ride.

The contest winner is announced! Then Josh and Christy get down to business and talk about The Family's self-titled album, Sheila E.'s Romance 1600 and Holly Rock, Andre Cymone's The Dance Electric, and The Bangle's Manic Monday. What comes out on top and what could they live without?

Because a full album just weeks later the conclusion of the Purple Rain tour wasn't enough, Prince released a bunch of singles - complete with remixes, extended versions, B-sides, and videos - from Around The World In A Day. Josh and Christy cover them all and discuss Prince's first "real" television interview AND The Purple One's contribution to the We Are The World project. Don't forget: you have until Sept 21, 2018 to enter our contest to win a Paisley Park pin. Share, Retweet, Rate and Review!
