The Mountains and the Sea Reviews Prince

Don't think this is an episode that isn't about Prince! The Purple Yoda had his hands ALL OVER the 2015 albums by Judith Hill and Andy Allo. We took the time to see what Prince saw in these incredibly talented artists and find the ways where we could see his hand in their growth. A funky Prince ride isn't limited only to songs or albums with his name as the headline.

HITnRUN Phase One was a surprise album in more ways than one. Released just a few weeks after being announced, this was a new sound for Prince and is divisive among fans. Was it divisive among our hosts, Josh and Christy? Tune in to find out. Also, we are trying something new: clips!

It's our very first one-second challenge for Josh of Prince songs. Twenty songs, just one solitary second to identify each one. These aren't all hits, either. Primarily deep cuts selected by Christy, the host's kids, and YOU - the listeners. Play along! Like what you hear? Subscribe, rate, review, and SHARE with your purple friends.

The completion of our Rave trilogy is here. Promotion for the album included a New Year's Eve special, a plethora of live (and lip synced) performances in Europe, some music videos, and several interviews by the previously reclusive Prince. Josh and Christy take a look at everything and choose a time capsule, a sea, and a mountain. Will they finally agree on one of their end-of-episode picks?

Is your Joy Fantastic? Josh and Christy discuss what they found to be fantastic - and maybe just a bit less than fantastic - about Prince's 1999 release, Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. This is the first of THREE episodes because even thought Prince didn't have a tour to support this album, he wasn't sitting around doing nothing - not his style. Join us for our high (mountain), low (sea), and time capsule as well as us lamenting missed opportunities. Funky and fun, just like the Purple One.

Take a trip back in time with Josh and Christy to the Funk album that informed so much of Prince's career: Dirty Mind. We delve into the ground-breaking sound, filthy lyrics, budget videos, and Prince's first television appearance that wasn't a lip-sync. This is an all-in-one episode, but just like Prince - it's sure to please.

So once he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Prince took it easy. Um, no. He promoted the dickens out of 3121 and we are so fortunate that he did. Join Josh and Christy for a journey into the many television appearances, videos, a residency, a protege and other fascinating stories about Prince during this prolific time period.

The album named after a rented home! 3121 is a funky, fantastic ride and Josh and Christy adored talking about this work that was enjoyable from start to finish. Could they even find a flaw to count as a "Sea" so they can follow their self-imposed rules? Listen and find out, friends.

Josh and Christy talk about the tour, the 3 chains o' gold video collection, the Three Chains of Gold comic, the single for Damn U, the maxi-singles for 7 AND My Name is Prince, and Prince's "takeover" of Arsenio Hall's late-night show.
