You voted, we listened, and the winner was: "Beetlejuice" which is one of Tim Burton's early classic's before he got all Tim Burton-y. The director is not the only one in top form, we get a manic and memorable performance from Michael Keaton as the titular trickster himself and the music is beautifully executed by Burton regular, Danny Elfman.
Adam and Barbara Maitland are a happy couple, enjoying a two-week long staycation (*shiver*) when they take a wrong turn through a covered bridge and plunge to their deaths...but that's just the beginning. Turns out there is a lot more to being recently deceased than the living care to consider. Not long after they become accustomed to being ghosts, trapped in their own home, they are confronted by a family of new homeowners, The Deetz family: Delia, a pretentious artist, Charles, a laidback explant from the big city and his daughter Lydia, a gothically inclined outcast who becomes instantly intrigued by the house's ghostly ambiance. In an effort to rid themselves of the uninvited guests, Barbara and Adam seek the aid of Beetlegeuse (Pronounced BEETLEJUICE...don't worry, we talk about it.) a self-proclaimed Bio-Exorcist who is completely grotesque and overwhelming. But once the undead genie is out of the bottle, it's dangerously difficult to contain him.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

As an added treat for the Halloween season, we are releasing this special b-b-bonus episode.
We revisit an old classic that was on one of our many worn out movies on videocassette, "Disney's Halloween Treat," which is available in the version we grew up with on YouTube though the quality is not the best. They also have various versions available, split into ten parts most of the time, but it's worth it.
This Halloween Special consists of an assortment of clips from various Disney movies and short's and even include's a segment dedicated to the infamous Disney villains (this special came out in the eighties so there ARE some villains missing, for sure.) and one of the best classic Disney shorts: "Trick or Treat" starring Donald Duck and his nephews.
We had a great time reliving the memories of this classic and we hope you do too!

Extending our season to fit in some spooky Disney Classics was definitely the way to go. This week, we watched "Stepmonster" a 90's ode to the old school, rubber-monster-costume movies of the 50's and 60's. The movie stars Alan Thicke, Canada's TV Dad, who you may recognize from the sitcom "Growing Pains," and also starring Robin Riker, who you may recognize from the DCOM days of "Brink!" and "Don't Look Under the Bed." And a special guest star, Corey Feldman, known for his role on "The Lost Boys" and as the voice of Donatello in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
While on a work/vacation trip, Todd Dougherty stumbles upon some mysterious footprints while exploring the Cascade Forest. Always dismissive of Todd's imagination, his father George would rather focus on buildings and blue prints, while Todd's Mother has a better understanding of Todd's imagination and love for comic books...comic books that apparently have the power to predict the future or something. Not long after meeting the mysterious and seductive client, Denise Gore, Todd's Mom gets lost in the forest and is attacked by a infamous creature the Tripopkin! (Sort of a cross between Bigfoot and those weird dinosaurs with the collar in Jurassic Park.) After months of searching, George is ready to move on and decides to marry...Denise!?!? Todd is instantly suspicious and sure enough comes to find out that Denise may not be what she seems, and the Suburbs will never be the same.
As cringe-y and awkward as some scenes get in this movie, there's still some fun stuff to enjoy...and the music is pretty great. Hope you enjoy!
