Manchester United 2 v Rangers 1. Ruben Amorim : “We didn’t deserve the draw, I think it was fair for us to win the game,” said Amorim in the press conference afterwards. “It was just a victory that we truly needed in this moment.”

“We played well. There was more connection with the ball, good speed.

“We lost control of the game for seven minutes because of small, bad decisions. Even when we suffered Rangers’ goal, we were so near to the second goal and missed so many chances. But we recovered and it was a good victory.

“We are not playing our best, we are far from that, but we improved from the last game.

“The opponent is different, the speed is different, everything is different. But they tried, you can see it again. The connections, the movement, some play and we did well for the time we’ve had to train.

“We need to be more clinical in the right moments. That can help us a lot.”

Arsenal 1 v Manchester United 1. Manchester United win 5-3 on penalties after ET. Ruben Amorim : "Especially in the first half we played better than in the [Premier League] game. We were better in set-pieces, more aggressive, we showed spirit, even with 10 men.

"The sending-off was really hard on us. There were some opportunities from Arsenal. The players were really tired."

"But I felt since the first minute today was our day. And I felt a connection with our fans.

"When we score first it helps us to suffer. It's more strength to suffer. We can calm down the game. We are understanding more the way we play - sometimes not playing well but you can control the game in certain moments. It's clear we're improving with the way we suffer. It's a good thing for a team."
