When 40-year-old Rosalio Gutierrez Jr. didn’t send his usual good-morning text, his girlfriend, Sadie, felt that little prickle of worry that’s impossible to ignore. By the time she reached his Kenosha apartment the next day, that worry had turned into something much darker. The patio door was open. Something red was splattered near the entrance. And inside… well, nothing could have prepared her for what she saw through the blinds.

Rosalio was nowhere to be found, although the living room told a story no one ever wants to walk into.

As detectives begin unraveling what happened inside that apartment, they are quickly pulled into a messy triangle involving a jealous ex, months of stalking behavior, hidden cell phones, late-night spying, and a van that suddenly smells suspiciously like bleach. When police discover a tiny speck of blood that changes everything, the investigation explodes in a whole new direction.

But for all the evidence, one thing is still missing: Rosalio.
