In this episode, I'm talking about something I see all the time in coaching, business, and personal growth: the instinct to immediately reject a truth that feels uncomfortable. I share a moment from therapy where I confidently denied feeling responsible for a situation… only to realize 20 minutes later that I actually did feel like it was all my fault. I also share another recent example where someone reflected something back to me and my first response was instant resistance.
I want to normalize this process because growth doesn't always look like immediate awareness or agreement. As a coach, I don't need my clients to instantly validate what I'm saying — I trust that sometimes the truth takes time to land. The goal isn't perfection or getting it "right" immediately. It's creating enough safety, boundaries, and self-trust that we can stay open to deeper honesty, take up space as leaders, and build businesses that actually support us instead of burning us out.
