This week's episode is heavy on supergroups and duets:
"Stand In The Storm" - Meat Loaf feat. John Rich, Li'l Jon, & Mark McGrath: Originally released as a charity single under the name Backbone while these four were on Celebrity Apprentice, this track now appears on Meat Loaf's latest album, Hell In A Handbasket. Meat is currently doing a Farewell Tour in England.
"Big Foot" - Chickenfoot: From the latest album from a supergroup featuring Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony of Van Halen, Joe Satriani, and Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers.
"I Can't Take It No More" - SuperHeavy: Another upbeat track from the supergroup featuring Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Joss Stone, Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, & AR Rachman.
"Hunger Strike" - Halestorm: A cover of a song by Temple of the Dog, a group made up of members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam before they became famous.
"Losing My Religion" - Dia Frampton: The Voice season 1 runner-up covers REM. This one doesn't have any connection to supergroups or duets; I had planned on playing it earlier but it got lost in the shuffle, so I wanted to play it before I forget.
"Moves Like Jagger" - Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera: The first commerically released single from two The Voice coaches. Obviously this song went on to be a massive hit. This is also Maroon 5's last song with some semblence of rock, it contains references to The Rolling Stones not only in their lyrics, but also in its beat which is strikingly similar to "Miss You". On their next album, they completed their slow descent into becoming a pop group.
"Princess of China" - Coldplay feat. Rihanna: A beautiful song, and Rihanna is an underrated singer. If only she'd be given more good material.
"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" - Puddle of Mudd feat. BC Jean: A cover of the classic Tom Petty & Stevie Nicks duet.
