  • #285 "No vocals? Sounds rubbish" (21st August 2022)

“Friend” of the show, Angela, has a fantastic description* about our show, she says “they always play weird stuff with no lyrics that people can’t sing along to”. Now, there is a slight degree of truth to this but also we don’t give her opinion much clout as she never listens to the show.

This week, especially for her, the show has no vocals. None. It’s all instrumental. It’s a show she’d hate (if she ever listened). There is a reason for the theme, Steve explains it on the first link.

    CLASSIC SHOW ALERT!

No show this week, so we're delving into the archives* to find a classic show you may have missed the first time around....

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regular listeners will know how much we enjoy making a theme show... so when we realised that following our move to Sunday coincided with 55 years of Jamaican Independence!

In this week is some Ska, Mento, Rocksteady, Reggae, Dancehall and Dub. Even better is that a lot of these are listener picks! Not only is this show 2 hours of Jamaican music, it's also programmed chronologically!

Once again, sit down and wonder (like the Prince Buster song... see what we've done there?) at the effort we've put into getting the best music to you.

If you like what you hear (and who doesn't?!?) listen live every Sunday 9pm-11pm on SheffieldLive! 93.2fm, via the TuneIn Radio App or www.sheffieldlive.org

Get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! We're also available for family functions, weddings, funerals, shop launches and more.

  • #284 Two hosts should be better than one... (31st July 2022)

Praise-be! It’s another proper show this week. Not Steve messin’ around with decks and tings. This week there is new music, a couple of doubles, updates of our adventures over the last two weeks and generally a lot of chat about radio on other networks.

  • #283 Steve Spins Solo (24th July 2022)

Morning all! Steve here. Sometimes, if you want something done properly you've got to do it yourself. This show proves that sometimes the sayings aren't accurate. Due to reasons, I had to do this show on my own. This meant that the mixing isn't the best and the tune selection is all over the place.

Still, I had fun, even if you can't hear me on the mic. In my defence, it was loud enough in the studio.

Hopefully we'll both be in the studio next week for a proper show.

Back in a red-hot studio to deliver 2hrs of near-perfect Community Radio. You'll also be pleased to know that we found our last remaining vibes-light. It makes all the difference to the show, we think you'll agree. Plenty of great chat in this one and a bit of new music.

  • #281 - "Ladies and Gentlemen..." at 25 (3rd July 2022)

25(ish)years ago, an album was released. 25ish years later, two middle-aged men on community radio dedicate a whole two hours to it.

For 2 hours we’ve picked songs from the album, influences, stuff from mixes, stuff from interviews and stuff from related bands. All interspersed by some chat and “insight” on “Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space” by Spiritualized®.

  • #280 - The Hosts Spin Records. (19th June 2022)

So, in classic TNT tradition, the show is a shambles. This week, the plan was to play records as it takes less prep. Well, there were problems before we even started but somehow we managed to pull together a decent show. The music, not the chat. At times you won’t be able to hear Paul. Some might call that a blessing.

The TL;DR of the show is. Paul’s records are for sale, Steve’s are not.

  • #279 Triple Hangover Special (12th June 2022)

Rejoice! We managed to drag ourselves into the studio for an actual, honest-to-goodness radio show. Press play and listen to why we’ve missed the last two weeks of shows. As you’d expect, the music is amazing but the links are rusty. Will next week be better? Perhaps. Tune in to find out.

  • TNT's Accordion Jams

To misquote Rakim... "It's been a long time, we shouldn't have left you without a dope show to step to". We've been off the last two weeks hanging out in various fields so there hasn't been a show.

This will be a problem to the Listen Again Crew that rely on our show to help them though the week. We're hopefully back on the air this Sunday but to tide you over, Steve has made this mix of Accordion Jams. We may or may not play in on the show. Depends how desperate we get.

The mix contains a bunch of different styles that all contain an accordion/squeezebox. Shout out to agent45 who hooked Steve up with a copy of Fernest & The Thunders " Zydeco Boogie".

  • #278 Steve Flies Solo (22nd May 2022)

So this show almost didn't happen. Paul has got Jumper's Knee so couldn't get into the studio. Steve could get into the studio and was gonna spin some tunes on the CDJs. That didn't happen due to trademark technical difficulties so instead, he took a gamble and just went solo.

We're not on air for the next two weeks so it felt like we HAD to leave you with something!

Get in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! We're also available for family functions, weddings, funerals, boat launches and more.
