The Night Train®

WARNING - This show is uploaded at a high bitrate. It means the file is bigger than normal, will sound better but will tan your data.

When news broke that Mark Lanegan had passed, we started thinking about our favourite picks. Steve would be the first to admit that he's more of a casual fan so this really is the doing of Paul. There will no doubt be things/collabs/releases that we've missed but hopefully this will give cover enough parts to of his career to give you a nice taster.

There's no chat on this one as one of us was on holiday and one of us was hungover. Hopefully back in the saddle next week. Apologies to those that like these uploads available on Monday morning. Better late then never!

As always, don't forget to get in touch to ask for request or shout-out at; nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain on the tweets. Especially wanna hear from you if you have a posse cut you need to hear.

In many ways, this show is a good snapshot of the show in general... an in-joke that somehow or another, made it onto the airwaves.

We've promised it for a while and here it is... our ROY SPECIAL! Enjoy the sounds of two presenters slowly losing their minds to the soundtrack of songs by, featuring, produced or about Roys.

What is odd is that we managed to fill 2hrs with some varied music. What we also noticed is that a 2hr show is perhaps a bit much for one name....

Which Roy are you?

The thing with live radio is, it's live. This means that there are quite often mistakes. Now, these usually don't happen the instant the show starts. That's a new one for us. One we get going, it's business as usual. The usual high standard of radio that you've come to know and love.

This week's show has a nice blend of styles and genres for you to get stuck into. If there's nothing in here that you like, we're not how to help you.

As always, don't forget to get in touch to ask for request or shout-out at; nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain on the tweets. Especially wanna hear from you if you have a posse cut you need to hear.

2nd week back in the studio and the thin veneer of professionalism has well and truly fallen off. No guest mix or theme this week, just two guys, on the radio, playing songs they like.

Some stalwarts of the show are in there though...

- A scratchy 78

- Recommendation of another show

- mis-remembered trivia

- jarring transitions between genres

- birthday shout-out to someone that doesn't listen to the show

We can't quite believe it either, after quite the wait this is it.... the big return to the studio! Has it really been almost 2 years? Will we still be able to deliver the goods on the air? Will anyone call the studio to claim the prize? All these questions and more will be answered in the show.

Not only is the show packed to the gills with great music, we decided to give ourselves a bit of a treat in hour 2... a 30 minute guest mix done by us!

What we were laughing at before the last link...

Every now and again, we manage to make a show that's both great (we remember to play new music) and terrible (missed queues, presenters not paying attention). Don't let that put you off, "fans" of the show will say that's what's best about the show.

You can decide for yourself by pressing play and enjoying 117 minutes of top-draw community radio.

This show has a bunch of different styles of music, placed next to each other in a way that almost makes sense. There's a set that goes around the world, there's one which you might send you to sleep and there's one that starts with some early 90s jungle.

Back with a “bang” in 2022… it’s the first TNT of the year! Not content with struggling to make and do a normal show, we decided to do a Tip o’ The Hat to legendary bass player, Robbie Shakespeare!

There’s a lot of music, sessions and tales to get into a 2 hour show and we will have done a terrible job. If there’s something we’ve missed off, please please please get in touch and we’ll play it on a future show!

In the meantime, if you want a proper listen… cop this interview with Sly & Robbie on the Redbull Sofa…

Please do, as this means we have something to mention when we're recording links. If not, Steve will no doubt bring up his bins.

Happy New Year, Feliz Ano Novo, Bonne Année, Bliadhna mhath ur and Kia hari te tau hou! Hope you are all well and have enjoyed this festive period. Apologies for not posting this earlier but it's been non-stop mince pie eating over here.

This is part 2 of our "Reasons Why We're Skint" series. This show focuses on the deeper cuts, the stranger selections and stuff that quite a few of you might not like.

There might be another one of these next week as Steve still hasn't played his jungle 12"s on the show. Stay tuned!

It's an end of year special. Possibly the start of a new tradition! We're not doing an EOTY lists, they're way too stressful. Also, regular listeners (all 4 of you) will know that we're not the best at keeping up with new music. So instead of compiling a list, we're just gonna play records we bought this year.

As mentioned in the title, this is Part 1. There will hopefully be a Part 2 next week but sans chat. All the deep cuts for the Hour 2 Headz.
