Dan and Linnea have been dreaming about this hunt since last year when they competed on a van/bus/rv renovation tv show together. Linnea and her dog Akela travel full time in their converted Ram ProMaster. Linnea has been die hard about fly fishing but is just now exploring the world of archery hunting. Dan recaps the grueling first 5 days of their hunt together while Linnea is still on the mountain trying to connect with one of these Utah giants.

On this episode of The Nomadic Outdoorsman Dan talks with Erin Merrill, an outdoorswoman, writer and one of the few people to ever accomplish Maine’s Grand Slam

Erin started hunting 20 years ago with her Dad. Since that time, they have spent countless hours in the woods stalking whitetails. In 2021, Erin was drawn for a moose tag and set the goal to get her Grand Slam - taking a turkey, bear, moose and deer within the same calendar year. She trapped her bear in early September, followed by an incredible moose hunt at the end of September into early October. Her grand slam was completed in early November after she shot a turkey and a 5 point buck.

Erin writes for the Northwoods Sporting Journal, is a Senior Writer for Drury Outdoors' DeerCast, is the Director of Business Operations for Blood Origins, sits on the board of the New England Outdoor Writers Association and is field staff for OnX and Fit to Hunt. Cole is a self-taught hunter from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Cole comes from a hunting family and started deer hunting at the age of 11. Cole got into bow hunting during high school and now enjoys muzzleloader hunting as well. Cole is incredibly blessed to have access to almost 1000 acres of private land on which he can chase deer, doves, turkey, bear, and geese. He regularly gets to share the woods with his dad, younger sisters and nephew and he loves sharing stories about all of his adventures.

Skyler started guiding hunts at 14 and has worked in the field ever since. He has since started a non profit called 4Progeny, an organization designed to take a stand against anti hunting legislation and governmental agendas by purchasing private land through crowd sourced funding to be held in a non profit organization for use by the public hunting community. Dan and Skyler talk all about how we can each take a small step towards preserving land that will collectively make a huge difference.

On this episode of The Nomadic Outdoorsman Dan talks with Missouri native Levi Rightnowar about his passion for chasing America’s number one big game animal.

Levi is an avid hunter that has had a passion for the outdoors for as long as he can remember. He killed his first deer at 6 years old and has harvested at least one every year since. Levi has been sitting in the woods with his dad since 3 years old which is where the addiction for whitetail started for him. Even during turkey season Levi finds himself looking at travel routes, pinch points, and bedding for deer while walking around. Levi had spent his entire life having only hunted public land with the exception of a few rifle hunts on his grandparents 60 acre farm. Levi is a plumber by trade and his busy schedule keeps him out of the woods throughout the week but he hardly ever misses a weekend. Levi’s family has a small cabin in the middle of 4,000 acres of public land. Rifle season is like a holiday for him and his family. Levi and his friends recently started JAK’D outdoors and an outdoor podcast called The Relatable Outdoorsmen. Dan and Levi talk about everything Missouri has to offer.

On this episode of The Nomadic Outdoorsman Dan talks with Austin Stone, a public land bow hunter who’s passion takes him to several states in pursuit of mature whitetails.

Austin has been deer hunting for 20 years, and bow hunting for 17. His hunting has predominantly been on public land in Missouri but over the past few years he has branched out to multiple states including Iowa, South Dakota and Kentucky, with Kansas being added to the list this year. Last season Austin was able to harvest 3 mature bucks between Missouri and Iowa. As if that weren’t impressive enough it all self filmed, on public land, with his bow.

Austin owns Tactical Approach Outdoors which he built as a deer hunter education business, catering to folks that didn’t grow up in a hunting family, but want to get started later in life. He recently launched the Deer Hunter Academy, a massive online course which provides you with everything you need to know to be a successful deer hunter. It covers 23 topics, 40 videos and is over 5 hours of educational material. Austin also offers virtual one-on-one mentoring to go along with the course. Dan and Austin cover some of the tips and strategies that have helped Austin find success on public land as they gear up for the 2022 season.

On this episode of The nomadic Outdoorsman Dan talks with Captain Alex Cuzzo from Angler Management Duluth about a recent trip where he learned all about fishing the largest lake in North America.

Alex Cuzzo owns Angler Management, a pristine 31' Tiara Pursuit that he uses to take groups of up to 6 people on fishing adventures on the largest of the Great Lakes. Alex has been fishing these waters for 15 years and decided to use his passion for fishing to help others experience all that Lake Superior has to offer. Angler Management offers opportunities to catch multiple species of fish. Alex has joined with several other Captains and boats to create the Lift Bridge Charters Association. A group dedicated to helping all anglers have the best experience possible. This group of Captains can work together to host groups of up to 42 people and are constantly communicating with one another about where the fish are and what they are biting on. Dan and Alex recap a recent trip where Dan and his family got to experience all of this first hand.

Doing Line-work for his day job, he does take advantage of his time off at his dad’s property scouting for deer. His interests include: Tequila, perk coffee, archery, hockey, campfires and music while his dislikes include snags, coyotes, wet cigars and haircuts. Chase Dreilich is also one of the founders of the group and one of the main editors of all content for their podcast, YouTube and social media. Being the family man of the group, he is often found with his partner and two kids taking in activities, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen. His likes include: big game, whiskey, cast iron, wood smoke, first frost’s while he strongly dislikes: mosquitos, whitecaps, over cooked steak and bug spray.
