This week friend of the show Kevin Gosztola of Shadowproof.com joined me to discuss the latest developments with Julian Assange. Kevin explained the charges that have been brought against Assange and the spin they have received in the media. He talked about the use of term “hacking” and why that is, in fact, an incorrect definition of what Assange has actually been charged with. Kevin also talked about Chelsea Manning who is still in jail after losing a recent appeal. Kevin also talked about the 2017 FBI affidavit which is the theory for the government’s case against Assange, should he be extradited back to the US. Kevin talked about the language used in the affidavit and its similarity to the Espionage Act. We also talked about the government’s theory that Assange aided the enemy through the publication of the Afghanistan War Logs. We discussed how this could set a dangerous precedent for all journalism. Later Kevin and I explored the larger implications of the US government’s attacks on Assange and journalism in general. We touched on the criminalization of basic journalistic practices like eliciting information from sources and protecting sources. We also talked about how this could be used against foreign and Americans journalists across the world. We closed out the first hour by talking about Ecuadorian president Moreno.

In the second hour, I talked about CIA director Gina Haspel’s recent speech and Q&A at Auburn University. I talked about Haspel as the director of the CIA and how she has differed from recent directors. I also touched on the doublespeak and doublethink used throughout her speech encouraging young people to join the intelligence services. Later I talked about comments made by the moderator Lt. Gen. Ronald Burgess regarding Guantanamo Bay.

Yes, we continued this discussion from two weeks prior. Carmine remains devoted to an optimistic view of Capitalism and the American system in general, while Chuck contends that the harsh reaction and desire to praise the American system is merely the result of indoctrination.

What about hyperbole in political discourse? Is it as dangerous and ill-informed as Chuck and Carmine appear to agree that it is? Is either side of the alleged left or right divide more guilty of hypocrisy and propaganda than the other? How brutal is the twisted capitalism of modern America? Is totalitarianism the logical product of true socialism. Does the debt based system bare any responsibility for the global condition of mankind?

Is every system convoluted beyond recognition? Is hypocrisy the grand justification for all acts of domination? Is it nature or nurture that produces people motivated to gain everything in life without regard for the destruction of many others who must suffer in order for others to thrive?

When Carmine argues about the absolutes related to Socialism is he misinformed? Is Chuck too angry at a system that has personally abused him that he can not see the good in it?

Violent Pseudo-Capitalism

It almost seems like a random sliver of prose would be the best show notes. There have been less LIVE shows on Wednesdays lately in order to allow the other shows on the network a stronger presence. You can’t ignore hump day forever.

On W Odin’s Day Chuck went solo without a script and ill-prepared due to domestic issues consuming time before he went LIVE. Microsoft, Frankie, and the rest of the universe seemed to be engaged in a conspiracy to prevent Chuck from doing the show. It may have made a great comedy video on YouTube but no one filmed it.

The rants went a bit sideways, The news was vaguely covered. The take on Notre Dame is not definitive but speaks to the multiple layers of agenda served by never allowing a spectacle of any kind to ever go to waste. Columbine is iconic but remains the hobby horse for the talking heads that do nothing but talk and debate about gun laws while ignoring the herd of elephants in every room of America’s house named violence.

In the first hour, we got to catch up with our friend Regular Joe. Chuck and Joe discussed the weather in the south and the awful lack of sense in the news streams. The conversation shifted to Punisher Season 2. Chuck is a fan of the show and actually sees many real messages in the show’s design and script.

Facing Reality Winner

Why does Chuck keep mentioning Reality Winner in conversation? You should be asking why you are not doing the same.

We had a special discussion with Reality Winners mother, Billie J Winner-Davis. Chuck wanted to illustrate Reality’s record of service and Patriotism that he believes motivated her act of disobedience as an NSA contractor that led to her incarceration. That record of dedication to service for her community and country seems as though it might be well beyond 30 years in length if Mrs. Winter was not just 27 years of age at the time of this interview.

Her mother answered questions and told the story of her early life as she was arriving in Texas after driving more than 7 hours to visit with her daughter.

Reality has been unfairly punished with an excessive sentence for telling a secret truth with one document. She was not motivated with payments or by the prospect of fame. It appears as though she valued the truth above her career and felt that the American people deserved to know the truth about Russian electronic interference in the 2016 Election.

No one was killed as a result of her actions. She did not profit from her actions. Yet the system saw fit to charge her under the Espionage act, It seems to be an intelligent Military Veteran that made a slightly embarrassing secret public frowned upon more intensely than White collar profiteers who actually trade for profit with foreign interests in sensitive data and access.

We ask that you take action with social media and in any situation where you can make a noise to keep Reality in the faces of anyone you encounter. If enough of us do there just might be a chance to adjust the unjust situation as it stands. The 27-year-old woman has been in Prison for more than 600 days now. It won’t cost a dime to make a Noise.
