How do you wrestle with the concept of faith as a follower of Jesus?
When God doesn't seem to move according to our "faith" at times...when we are praying and believing, is it, "lack of faith" on our part that is the cause...or, is there something grander at work?
Is God "required to act", according to our requests, every time...when a believer prays with genuine faith?
These can be tough questions to grapple with?
Let's take a look the words of Jesus in John 15:4-8 | NLT.
"4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. 7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! 8 When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father."
According to these words of Jesus, those "who" can ask for anything, are those who are abiding (remaining) in Jesus and the Lord Jesus words are also abiding (remaining) within this believer.
Does this mean that those believers who are less fruitful than others may see less results than those who are producing "much fruit"?
The answer seems pretty vivid within the text. Understandably, that can be a hard truth to accept...
However, greater than healings, miracles and supernatural works...is God desiring to see a believer conformed into the image of Christ.
Forming your character and delivering you from sin and empowering you by the Holy Spirit to live daily as an overcomer and love all people...this is the fruitful life and this is the key to, "asking for anything you want".
