  • Measuring Success Of GMO's, Herbicide-Resistant & Insect-Resistant Crops
Initially, genetically engineered, herbicide-resistant and insect-resistant crops were created for the purpose of conserving fuel, reducing tillage and to decrease the overall use of insecticides. This strategy was the premise for the successful sale of this technology within the global agricultural sector. Almost two decades later, there is a big question as to whether or not this technology has been able to deliver the promises it has made. What exactly has happened over the last 16 years? As the increased use of applications of neonicotinoids continues, commercial beekeepers are facing record bee losses. There is also great concern regarding the impact on human health as the demand to create transparency in food labeling continues what appears to be an uphill battle, especially with the failure to pass Prop 37 in the state of California which would have mandated gmo labeling. In this special series called “The Neonicotinoid View”, host, June Stoyer and co-host, Tom Theobald talk to Dr. Charles Benbrook, about his research on gmo's, the impact on the environmental and human health. • Housing Reclaimed: DIY Renovation & Energy Conservation
The DIY home renovation concept is a very popular trend, especially with the high cost of home renovation and the need to live more sustainably. Providing that you have the expertise or have the proper instruction, it can also be very cost effective as it is good for the environment. The financial costs associated with purchasing a new home has also forced people to go back to basics. Home owners are looking at the comfort and personalization of the home as opposed to buying something that is simply “bigger and better”. Instead of spending a fortune on brand new materials, people are opting to use materials from old buildings or “deconstruction” as well as other materials often headed for landfills. By embracing building concepts such as straw bale building on a community level, people can learn to work together within their own communities to create more affordable housing as they develop a more tight-knit community. How does one begin such an endeavor? What exactly are the building basics that you need to know? How can people collect reclaimed materials? Why are insulation and thermal mass so important? What options are there for utilizing space as well as creating space? How can you incorporate the natural color of materials to enhance the beauty of your home? How can you create a landscape that also lends itself to sustainability?
In this special series called The Clean Energy View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to author, Jessica Kellner about her book, Housing Reclaimed: Sustainable Homes For Next To Nothing. Jessica will share tips and answer many of the questions home owners have about DIY renovation. Jessica Kellner is editor of Natural Home & Garden magazine and a passionate advocate of using architectural salvage to create aesthetically beautiful, low-cost housing. ©2013 TheOrganicView.com. • Haddie's In Our Closet: JH Soeder Shares His Personal Story
When most people go away for the weekend, they come back with great memories of the things they did, the people they saw, etc, etc. What if you went away for the weekend and came home with a new friend? However, there is just one slight detail about this friend that might be a bit difficult for you to explain. It just so happens that this friend is actually the spirit of an African-American nanny that has been stuck in her home for the last 150 years! For someone like J.H. Soeder, this was a very interesting situation because although he had been communicating with spirits since he was a child, he never had one that was stuck in a different time. This certainly was a challenge! In the book, Haddie's In Our Closet, J.H. Soeder talks about his unusual friendship with a spirit named Haddie. The relationship was not unusual because she was a spirit but because she was stuck in a time when white men did not befriend slaves and treat them as equals. J.H. has the unique opportunity of enlightening Haddie about how much the world has changed as well as helping her to “make the decision” to move on. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to award-winning author and famed animal communicator, J.H. Soeder about his latest inspirational book which is about friendship, family and enlightenment. This will really open your eyes about what Hollywood tells us about the spirit world and the huge difference about what the true reality is. Stay Tuned! ©2013 TheOrganicView.com. All Rights Reserved.

  • Expert, Alice Feiring Talks To June Stoyer About Naked Wine
Most people take for granted that when they select a wine, the ingredients are going to be pure and natural. However, as most conscious consumers know, this is not the case. There are 200 ingredients on the list of government-approved additives for wine. However, unlike food, wine manufacturers arent required to list their ingredients (which can include animal proteins, oak chips, sulfurs, yeasts, enzymes, preservatives, and “Mega Purple” which is a brand of highly concentrated wine color) on the side label. This renders most consumers to be clueless about what exactly is in their wine and used to produce it. In the book, Naked Wine, wine expert, Alice Feiring explores these very issues as she discusses the process of natural wine making. She also explains some key questions that most consumers are confused about such as: What is the difference between natural and organic wine? Whats the connection between the natural food and the natural wine movement? When did winemaking stop being an “art” and become an industry? How much influence does “big business” really have in the wine world? In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer will speak to award winning expert, Alice Feiring. Alice Feiring is an award-winning food and wine journalist and author of the Battle for Wine and Love. Formerly the wine/travel columnist for Time, she now writes for the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, Conde Nast Traveler and the Los Angeles Times Magazine, among many others. Stay tuned!
