  • Chapter 35: D.B. Cooper: Legend or Rotten, Sleazy Crook? (Part One, Rebroadcast)
Ah yes. One of America's greatest unsolved mysteries is that of D.B. Cooper. What an icon. In the days before airplane hijacking was associated with terrorism, Mr. Cooper was one of many, many people who just, you know, marched onto a plane and decided to scare the crew into giving him money. But who could he have possibly been? Originally broadcast July 31, 2019.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau-Jones. Additional voices by Brian Liles, Zach Szakin, Daniel Fastenau-Jones, Kaitlyn Brown, Ryan Pigg, Paul Critzman III, Sarah Cooper, Brian DePasquale, Marina Delgado, Sam Dudley, Chris Svehla, and Sarah Brennan. Cover artwork by Brian Liles.

  • Chapter 35: Rotten Luck (Rebroadcast)
Let me tell you I must have the absolute worst luck in the world which could very well be why I am not a huge fan of St. Patrick's Day. Still, as is now our tradition, I present to you the story of Sue Snow who perhaps is one of a few people with worse luck than moi. Originally broadcast May 13, 2020.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau-Jones. Additional voices by Daniel Fastenau-Jones and Ariel Dale. Theme music written and performed by Tracee Zales.

  • Chapter 53: Alimony Acrimony (Rebroadcast)
I don't know about you but I have been in a classic Broadway mood lately. A Chorus Line is my new obsession having taken over for Chicago and, dare I say it, Diana the Musical (say what you want but I LOVED it!). Speaking of Chicago though, let's take a look at a fan-favorite episode that reminds me of those crazy dames! Ladies and gentleman: Roy Schuster! "Notice how his mouth never moves! ....almost...."

Written by Jordan Katcher, narrated by Schuyler Fastenau, and executive produced by Daniel Jones. Additional voices by Daniel Jones, Allyn Anthony Moriyon, Walker Barnes, Jeremy Staple, Vince Perez, Sophia Sassone, Matt MacNelly, Sheatarra Ervin, Taylor Shurte, Marissa Pistone, Ariel Dale, and Rainee Blake. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales.

  • Chapter 47: First Edition (Rebroadcast)
I don't think it's necessary to tell all of you that the world is INSANE right now with Putin going to war with Ukraine. What a child! The Original Deadtime Stories stands with Ukraine. I've seen a lot of posts on social media about what you can do to help and one of the things that keeps recurring in these posts is using the correct pronunciation of the capital, Kyiv. When we first recorded this episode, Taylor Shurte (who plays Iana Kasian in this chapter) taught me that some members of her family were from Ukraine and pronounced the capital city as Keeve instead of Key-yev. Ever since then if I talked about the Ukrainian capital, I tried to pronounce it the Ukrainian way instead of what the world taught us, the Russian way. So I hope this episode, in some little way, helps us stand with the Ukraine through our pronunciation of the capital city, Kyiv.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau and executive produced by Daniel Jones. Additional voices by Rainee Blake, Marissa Pistone, Daniel Jones, Jordan Katcher, Janette Zosche, Taylor Shurte, Tamara Perry, Ariel Dale, Matt MacNelly, Sophia Sassone, Allyn Anthony Moriyon, and Jeremy Staple. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales.

  • Chapter 56: The Mockingbird's Lesson Continues (Censored, Rebroadcast)
PLEASE NOTE: Today's episode includes language some may find triggering. These slurs are for the purpose of historical accuracy and do not reflect the opinions of the cast or crew at The Original Deadtime Stories. This version of the episode has these slurs bleeped out.

We've seen how dangerous Amite County was for African Americans during the Civil Rights Movement. Herbert Lee was murdered in broad daylight by a politician. Shortly after, another African American man was murdered on his own property. Was it a coincidence or was it because he threatened to tell the truth at Herbert's trial? We all know the answer but let's be one of the first to examine Louis Allen's story closer. Conclusion.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau and executive produced by Daniel Jones. Additional voices by Tamara Perry, Maurice Whitfield, Sheatarra Ervin, Jeremy Staple, and Daniel Jones. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales.

  • Chapter 37: Lesson from a Mockingbird (Censored, Rebroadcast)
In honor of Black History Month we wanted to share the story of Herbert Lee's absolutely senseless murder with the hope that the we can continue to work towards change for the better. Since we first ran this episode, I am happy to report that Derek Chauvin pleaded guilty to violating Geroge Floyd's civil rights and finally admitted to keeping his knee on George's neck even after he was unresponsive. In December 2021, Derek was sentenced to twenty-two and a half years in prison. Originally broadcast July 15, 2020.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau and produced by Daniel Jones. Additional voices by Maurice Whitfield, Tamara Perry, Jeremy Staple, Walker Barnes, Jermell Deshauan, and Sheatarra Ervin. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau.

  • Chapter 15: A Lonely Heart (Remastered)
With Valentine's Day coming up...ugh eye roll of a holiday...I wanted to re-introduce you to the 'I love you...I love you...GOODBYE' philosophy. I love a good fairy tale or Disney film but let's be honest with ourselves. These stories do not promote a realistic idea of love! We're taught that we lock eyes with someone, fall in love, get married three days later and live happily ever after. Not realistic. You're going to fight and that's okay! What's not okay is what our Lonely Hearts Killers did to women and children across America. Originally broadcast February 13, 2019.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau-Jones. Additional voices by David Meneses, Sandy Rose, Taylor Walter, Shannon Bengston, Justin Hissey, Brian Liles, Alec Nielsen, Craig Seaver, and Carly Wilson. Theme music by Tracy Zales.

  • Chapter 79: Body...?
I'm not famous by any means BUT I was hounded by the press once. Okay so maybe hounded isn't the BEST choice of words. A reporter got out of his car right as I happened to be walking home from high school, he saw my book bag, and asked me about our new lunch options at school and whether I agreed with the government regulations of our lunches or not. I was so awkward on camera and grabbed the mic then released the mic then grabbed it again, totally unsure what he wanted me to do. Thank goodness they did NOT include my interview in the final edit. Could you imagine what would've happened if it had been an interview about a murder victim instead of cafeteria lunches and I knew something about that victim?! That would've been awkward. Well...there's at least one guy in this world who can imagine that.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau and executive produced by Daniel Jones. Additional voices by Jeremy Staple, Tamara Perry, Janette Zosche, Jordan Katcher, Maurice Whitfield, Juno Nifosi, and Daniel Jones. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales. Please note: due to the time and location of the story, this episode contains racial slurs for historical accuracy. More extreme words have been bleeped out. In addition, the episode includes violence against children. Listener discretion is advised.

As we continue our investigation into the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, we'll dig deeper into the lives of the Cherry family and the cracks that formed between a father and son. Tom Cherry is about to learn the lesson all children learn as they grow older: mom and dad are not always right.

Written and narrated by Schuyler Fastenau and executive produced by Daniel Jones. Additional voices by Jeremy Staple, Tamara Perry, Janette Zosche, Jordan Katcher, Maurice Whitfield, Juno Nifosi, and Daniel Jones. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales. • Chapter 77: Welcome to Bombingham
Please note: due to the time and location of the story, this episode contains racial slurs for historical accuracy. More extreme words have been bleeped out. In addition, the episode includes violence against children and graphic descriptions of post mortem photographs. Listener discretion is advised.

I don't think it's a secret that Birmingham, Alabama was not the safest place for African Americans during the Civil Rights Movement. Bombings of black owned business and neighborhoods became incredibly common and the city was given the nickname Bombingham. When a group of extremists decided to target a church one Sunday in September, the movement took a turn.

Additional voices by Jeremy Staple, Tamara Perry, Janette Zosche, Jordan Katcher, Maurice Whitfield, Juno Nifosi, and Daniel Jones. Cover artwork by Catherine Fastenau. Theme music by Tracy Zales.
