It’s amazing to think that these guys have been together long enough to hit their 1300th episode! That’s a whole lot of outdoors talk…
And there was a whole lot of outdoors talk in this episode, too. LOTS of fishing, hunting, food and fun!
Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Jeff swears by the Buck Naked Performance Base Layer Crew Shirt. Listen to find out why, and then go HERE to get yours.
Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: The black drum bite has been outstanding the last couple of weeks. Use small baits and make sure you move your bait ever so slow. Water temperature is dropping but drum prefer cooler water!
Here’s your KirbyCo Builders, Inc cooking tip of the week: Share your best chili recipe and what add ins are a must? Cheese? Sour cream? We already had the great corn debate earlier this week…
The show was back on the air after a break for Thanksgiving, and Capt. Kevin was back after a bunch of time in Georgia doing the hunting thang. Of course the main topic of conversation was the temperature, which dropped like a stone over the past few days. The question was this: with water temps dancing around the 60-degree mark, how could anyone get any fishing done?
Find out, and more importantly, get the forecast so you know whether to gear up to go out…or roll over to go back to bed.
The guys rolled into the studio – literally – after a great Thanksgiving with stories about great food, great hunting, and great memories. And when the guys started talking about all the fun stuff they did as a kid, the phones LIT UP with people sharing their own memories of fun places like Six Gun Territory, Silver Springs, the old Marine Land, and a bunch of other spots.
Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: This time of year it could be foggy, rainy, or just damp. Make sure you carry a lens cleaner with you in your backpack. You might need it for your eye glasses, binoculars, scope or your range finder!
Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: SAVE THE DATE and join us for our next LIVE remote on December 16th at Ring Power CAT in Saint Augustine.
Here’s your KirbyCo Builders, Inc cooking tip of the week: What is the best mayonnaise and way to make a turkey sandwich?
The holiday season hasn’t officially kicked off until the boys hit the road and broadcast from a Hagan Ace location, and 2023 is no different. It was off to Callahan this year, and boy, did they had a blast hanging out with everyone! They also had a lot of fun inside the Hagan Ace…which is absolutely HUGE!!!
Lots of stories, lots of guests, lots of giveaways, and lots of fun.
Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott were back to feeling better, so they were back to talking fishing. Well, as much as they could…as everyone knows, the weather’s been B-A-D bad for the past few days. With that said, the time is right for wahoo, and the guys spent a little time talking about high speed trolling and how much fun it can be. You think you’d be into it?
So Capt. Kevin was out “sick” this week (a bad case of buck fever is the official diagnosis). With Kevin gone, Jeff and Capt. Kirk welcomed in special guest Rick Hall, co-host of “The Southern Game and Tackle Podcast”.
The big story of the week was Jeff’s big buck, and it’s a story you don’t want to miss. Rick shared the nitty gritty on his latest trip to Kentucky, and Kirk shared a story of his own, too! But it wasn’t all about hunting; Kirk had himself a great week, and Jeff’s son Dylan checked in with a great fishing story of his own!
So we’ll start with the bad news first – both Capt. Kirk and Capt. Scott came down with “the gunk” (as Scotty called it) this week, so Kevin was out and Scotty was on very limited duty this week. So it was up to Capt. Ricky (who had to fight his through nasty traffic) and Capt. Leon to get us all through the episode. To be fair, the fishing is so good, there was A LOT to talk about. They welcomed in Noel Kuhn, the absolutely MASTER of First Coast surf fishing, to talk about just how hot the beaches are right now.
You get the forecast as well, so you can find out if things are gonna STAY hot…
It’s a bye week for the Jaguars, so you can bet Jeff was gone…doing some OSR in the middle of deer season! Capt. Scott Shank from the Ringpower Fishing Forecast came in once again to join the party, and there was quite a bit to chat about.
The weather is definitely changing, and this past week turned pretty nasty (as you probably know). Honestly, how long has it been like this? The guys talked about that, and if it there was an end in sight for the anglers listening. As for the hunters – conditions are pretty good, but how has the hunting? Listen in to find out…
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for deer hunters. Which means that Capt. Kevin and Capt. Ricky weren’t anywhere to be found! So what was Capt. Scott to do? Well, he called on our good friend Capt. Leon Dana to come into the studio for this episode!
So what did they talk about? Obviously, the changing weather was the story of the day, and it was clear that it’s the time of year for taking some days and leaving others. The guys talk about which ones they would’ve taken and left, and of course, they drop the forecast on you so you’ll know which days to take and which ones to leave.
Forget all the goofy Halloween jokes…whether it’s fishing or hunting, things have been good for all of us on the First Coast. The guys shared all kinds of things from the woods and the water, and Jeff shared the name of his truck (yes, he named his truck).
