So has Cupid’s arrow struck Mother Nature in the behind? Not sure, but Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott were pretty quick to note that the weather has been pretty decent of late. The important question is this: will you be in love with the temps and the wind and the tides for the upcoming week? Listen in to find out…
‘Tis the season to let it burn! To be more specific, it’s time for some controlled burning, which is exactly what Jeff was doing all week. It’s really an artform (albeit a butt-puckering one), and it really takes some serious planning and consideration to do it right. Get the lowdown on the burning process…and all the cool stuff that goes along with it.
Tim called in and got the conversation shifting into scary situations on the water. Big waves, nasty wind, and gut-wrenching scenarios in which you think the worst is exactly what’s about to happen. This part of the show was Halloween-worthy!
This may come as a shock, but the conversation went all over the place during the episode, with bird talk, favorite Super Bowl commercials, Hee Haw songs, the El Cheapo (thanks to an appearance from Big Bill), the beauty of venison with Lester and Casey (Fishing Forecast producer), and, thanks to the GemLux Trivia Question, there was a serious discussion about the industry-wide conspiracy involving the true size of a 2×4!
PROGRAM WARNING: Capt. Kirk was in rare form during this episode. He definitely dropped in a bunch of great lines including the “Chippewa War Cry”, but he also introduced the latest Outdoors Show-ism: “gobbled out”. Find out what it means, how you can use it, and place your orders now for the t-shirt! LOL
On this episode, Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott spent some time talking bass…been a while, hasn’t it? Some great stories about fishing before fishing became a career. And when they weren’t talking about lots of good bass fishing, they took some time to say goodbye to Toby Keith.
As always, they talked about the forecast, too. Be sure to listen in and see if there are going to be better conditions for you as you hit the water this coming week.
The guys settled into the studio this week to take care of a lot of business. They welcomed in Paul Dozier, who shared the latest news on the Wahoo Shootout and the Old School Kingfish Tournament. Nettles Sausage also stopped by to talk about what they do, what they make, and how delicious it is! They introduced the Gemlux Trivia Question of the Week, and talked gag grouper, crab gills and stainless steel gradients…it was all over the place, but a whole lot of fun!
Capt. Ricky was gone (again…shocker), so Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott asked Capt. Leon to sit in with them and have a nice little chat. The guys got hooked on talking lures (see what we did there?), and had a ball with it.
They also talked fishing and the upcoming forecast…which is kinda why we call it the Fishing Forecast, right?
The guys were broadcasting live from Boat Central for this episode! It was the Jacksonville Boat Show inside the Prime Osborn Convention Center, and they spent all three hours with eyes wide, looking at all the great boats and gear on display.
Alright, maybe “The King” is a bit of a stretch, but Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott welcomed back Capt. Ricky, who has been MIA for a LOOOOOOOONG time. He had a lot to talk about, and he wasn’t the only one. Between the three captains and the callers, it was non-stop stories…and some major interest in the forecast. Why, you ask? Well, you’ll need to listen to find out!
In case you didn’t know, the Outdoors Show is based out of Jacksonville, FL. But then why does it feel like we’re in Jacksonville, Maine (and yes, that’s a real place)? It’s another brisk morning on the First Coast, and that’s what got the show kicked off.
But the weather wasn’t the only thing that spurred conversation – the guys talked about all things fishing and hunting, government overreach, venison sausage and turkey vulture trivia (and yes, they really did talk about turkey vultures). Yeah, nothin’ like chilling out and talking all things outdoors.
The weather’s been up, down and all around this past week, but that didn’t stop Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott from hitting the water. Find out how their week went…and how the upcoming week is looking for you as you plan on your next fishing excursion!
With Capt. Kirk out trying to drop a deer and Jeff checking in via the wonders of modern technology from Georgia, Capt. Kevin asked Capt. “High & Dry” Leon Dana to sit in. Wondering how he got that new nickname? Listen in to find out.
Mullethead checked in with a great story about a great buck, which spawned a bunch of hunting talk. You ever hear the one about the moon’s phase altering a deer’s blood flow? Well, you’ll hear it in this episode…and you can decide if it’s true or not.
