So Capt. Kevin, Capt. Scott, and Capt. Ricky were all in studio, and one of them was dubbed “The Tarpon Master”! But which of the three captains earned that dubious distinction and why? You’ll have to listen to find out.
You also better listen to find out how good the weather’s going to be, so you have a shot at becoming a Tarpon Master yourself!
Jeff’s Jaguars duties have officially commenced for the new season, so he was out of town for the first preseason game. With Jeff gone, Fishing Forecast co-host Capt. Scott Shank rolled into the studio to talk with Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk about the major topic of the week: THE HEAT.
Capt. Kevin also talked a bit about his run during last week’s King of the Beach Tournament, but he wasn’t the only one talking – Jeff Parsons, winner of the tournament, called in to talk about his experience…and his big, bad, brand new boat!
Capt. Kevin was back in studio after participating in the 2023 King of the Beach Tournament, and he definitely had some stories to share. But don’t get it twisted – Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky had their own stories to share about the week that was. And, as always, all three guys talked about the week that’s coming, and how the forecast is looking regarding our angling adventures.
It’s the weekend of the King of the Beach tournament, and Capt. Kevin just couldn’t stay away. With him on the water, Capt. Kirk and Jeff called on Capt. Chip Wingo to come on in and enjoy the festivities!
The tournament had the headlines, of course, so the guys checked in with several participants to get updates on everything. They also welcomed in Capt. Aaron Stasiak, otherwise known as the man behind “The Qualified Captain” account on Instagram.
Jeff also followed up on the crazy hog situation he was facing in Georgia. Did the Pig Brig get the job done? Did the big boar make his appearance? Was there an A-Pork-alypse like Capt. Kirk predicted last week? It would make a great movie, but you’ll hear the story here.
Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky were at the helm for this episode, as Capt. Kevin was off to attend the captain’s meeting for the upcoming King of the Beach tournament. That fact spawned the conversation for the show, and some questions were posed about tournaments in general, and how the weather was going to affect this one specifically.
Tune in to find out if the forecast is going to be good enough for you as you look to drop a line this coming week!
Jeff was back this week, so with the band back together, they set out to recap a rather busy week on the water. Good stuff, since the water’s warm, the seas are relatively calm, and the fish are biting. The guys talked about the fishing, of course, but there’s A LOT more to this episode: Jeff’s son Dylan called in to talk about his amazing tarpon adventure while on his kayak, Kevin dropped the first-ever Outdoors Show Gopher Turtle Quiz, and folks running the Back to School Kids Kingfish Derby and the upcoming King of the Beach checked in with the latest on their tournaments!
Hollywood was back in the house! And why was he out for four weeks? You’ll have to listen for that…
So here we are in late July, and the fishing is pretty good – lots of stuff to catch, lots of places to go to catch it. But, for some reason, Capt. Kevin, Capt. Scott, and Capt. Ricky were all a bit unhappy…why’s that? Again, you’ll have to listen in to find out why they weren’t having too much fun.
You’ll also have to listen in for the forecast, to see if you’ll be able to have some fun of your own this coming week.
Jeff was out of pocket this week, so Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk welcomed in Fishing Forecast co-host Capt. Scott Shank! Good thing, because there was a lot of fishing stuff to talk about – to be honest, the guys agreed that the bite has been incredible, especially for kings, cobia and tarpon (unless you’re big on catching sharks…if that’s the case, you’re in heaven!). Unfortunately, the big news of the day is the same news we’ve talked about for the past several days: THE HEAT.
But there was another issue that popped up worthy of discussion: how to take care of your business at the ramp. The guys shared stories, tips and insights into ramp etiquette, safety, and communication.
You read that right…it’s HOT. Well, you know that, and you every angler you know knows that. Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott know it too, but the question is this: does it matter to the fish? Find out, along with some ways to beat the heat – or at least tolerate it.
And of course, you don’t want to miss the forecast to find out if it’s gonna stay this hot.
So what do you get when you combine THREE tournaments and a 2-day snapper season? Well, since this is a family show, the guys didn’t call it what it was. But they did share the good, the bad and the ugly about this weekend during the episode, and several callers chimed in with their own perspective on things.
Jeff also had the opportunity to check out this year’s ICAST convention, where the fishing industry showcases their latest and greatest products. Listen in to get the lowdown on some of the great stuff you’ll be seeing in stores soon!
