Welcome to the brain-dead summer season! Thankfully, fishing on the First Coast is in full swing, so Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott have been runnin’ and gunnin’, steppin’ and fetchin’ like their hair was on fire and their asses was catchin’ (pretty sure that’s a Charlie Daniels song lyric…). Seriously, it’s busy.
And that’s not even taking Snapper-palooza into account.
Get the forecast – as well as the over-anxious boater warning – in this episode so you can be ready for anything this coming week.
Gotta love the summer…so much going on. Fishing, vacations, cookouts, holidays, goose warfare (???). Anyway, lots of fun for everyone, and the guys hit the studio to talk about it all!
The guys also had the chance to speak with Louis Joseph, who runs the King of the Beach tournament every year. He talked about the tournament and the INCREDIBLE prizes! If you want to learn more and get registered, visit https://www.nfkingofthebeach.com/
The gang was back together after Kevin skipped out for a concert last week, and they were all talking about…you guessed it…being on the water and in the heat. But as all of us were wringing the sweat from every bit of clothing we were wearing, there was some silver lining about the fishing. What was it? Well, if we told you in this description, why would you bother listening? We can’t have that.
Get the scoop, get some stories, and get the forecast so you can find out just what’s coming up as you plan your next angling adventures.
Don’t let the episode title fool ya – it was a hot week because the guys were blistering the fish this week! According to Capt. Kevin, it was the best week of fishing so far this year, and the guys have all the stories about it…including the long list of fish they caught.
Okay…truth is the episode title is all about the nasty temperatures as well. Nothing like mid-90s and no wind, right? No doubt the guys chatted about how they beat it.
But it wasn’t just about the fishing; there’s still land to prep and the perpetual hog issues. Jeff’s got a hog problem. The guys talked about it, and shared some cool tips to trap ’em
With Capt. Kevin out having some fun, Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky couldn’t do anything but talk about the heat. Why? Because EVERYONE is talking about the heat!
Not to say that the weather, along with the fishing, is a bit interesting…and a bit difficult too. But are we starting to get into a “normal” summer pattern? Listen in to find out.
No, that’s not a typo in the episode title…the guys were all talking about the weather. With system after system coming through, it’s been unlike any June the guys have ever seen. Somehow special in-studio guest Capt. Chip Wingo managed to get out and land some fish over the past week.
But don’t worry – the guys talked about a whole lot more…and had a lot of fun, too!
So exactly what is an angler supposed to do when the rain doesn’t stop, the wind keeps on blowing, and the water is clear as mud? Well, Capt. Kevin and Capt. Scott take an hour to talk about it! Mother Nature’s been one mean so-and-so for a while, but the question is this: will her mood improve so we can get some decent fishing time? Find out if this coming week will be it!
With Jeff out this week, Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk called on Ringpower Fishing Forecast co-host Capt. Scott Shank to join in the fun. This was their first chance to talk about the Old School, so we got the inside scoop from Kevin. And then it was on to the bait situation…yikes.
But with it being Father’s Day weekend, the crew – along with several callers – talked about how their dads shared their love of the outdoors with them. If you want to hear some great stories about some great fathers, this is the show for you!
Capt. Kevin, Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky were all in the studio, and NONE of were happy…even though the fishing is great! So why all the frowns? It doesn’t matter how good the fishing is if you can’t find any bait. They talk about their problems, and a whole lot more, during the episode – including that forecast you’re looking for.
It’s Old School Time! The Daily’s Old School Kingfish Shootout brought to you by Yellowfin is officially underway, and the Outdoors Show is all over it! With Capt. Kevin out in the water, Capt. Kirk and Jeff manned the studio (along with Jeff’s son Dylan), and talked to quite the gaggle of participants, as well as the man behind the Old School, Paul Dozier.
Coming out of some thunderstorms last night, the weather was in great shape, so people came out in DROVES. 654 boats full of them, in fact – a new Old School record!!!!!! Paul shared a bunch of great info about the people coming out this year, along with all the great prizes and fun stuff happening.
As the morning wore on, it sounded like the challenge was finding the bait; looks like it got word about the tournament and tried to find some safe spaces. But, if anglers could find the bait, they were definitely getting some kings in the boat!
