If you’ve listened to the last several episodes, you know things have been tough. BUT…nothing lasts forever, right? Well, First Coast anglers, the guys have some good news – business is picking up, and just in time for the Old School!
Check out the stories and get the forecast for one of the coolest tournaments ever…
Jeff made his return after taking a week off…for NECK surgery (he ain’t nothin’ if he ain’t a tough cookie)! It was great to have him back, but it wasn’t the greatest week of fishing to talk about. With multiple nor’easters rolling over the First Coast, things were a bit dicey (to say the least).
Now that’s not to say there wasn’t anything to talk about – the guys had plenty to talk about, and when they weren’t talking, some great callers filled in the gaps. Ed Malin, founder of Angie’s Subs, called about a great Waylen Bay experience, Top Gun checked in with a great joke, and Paul Dozier checked in with an update on the Daily’s Old School Kingfish Shootout presented by Yellow Fin.
It was all about the doubles on this week’s episode – Capt. Scott was just giddy over wrapping up a double and having to call in, while Capt. Kevin and Capt. Ricky couldn’t stop talking about the back-to-back nor’easters we’ve had to put up with here on the First Coast. It’s enough to drive any angler double crazy!
But be sure to listen and see if you’ll be able to double your pleasure in the upcoming days…weather-wise, at least.
Happy Memorial Day! Before anything else, we would all like to express our gratitude to the men and women of the US Armed Forces who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom…and to their families as well. Thank you!
With Jeff out of commission due to some surgery (get well soon, brother…you’re in our thoughts and prayers), Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk had an empty chair to fill. So they called on a couple good friends to sit in: Dave Edwards and Gemlux Marine Hardware CEO Matt Bridgewater. They talked about fishing trends, snapper regs, holiday boating goofiness, and shared an amazing white marlin fishing experience in the Bahamas.
But the lead’s getting buried a little bit, so here it is: what the what’s going on with the weather? Wind gusts up to 50, ridiculous tides, sideways buckets of rain…is there any end to this nonsense?
Throw in lots of great callers (and a couple questionable jokes from Top Gun and Papa G), and you’ve got a great episode to check out!
Capt. Kevin, Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky made it into the studio, but there wasn’t a whole lot to talk about. Bottom line? It continues to be rough for anglers all over the First Coast. But should you just hold off and cross your fingers for June, or is there some good news – and good weather – for us all in this last week of May? Listen in to find out…
Jeff was back, so the whole gang was back in studio for this week’s episode…but they weren’t alone! With Memorial Day Madness coming up, they welcomed in United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Commodore Rick Saunders to talk boating safety. This alone made this episode a must-listen, and if you’d like to schedule a safety vessel check, take a boating safety class, or get all kinds of great boating info, visit cgaux.org .
Paul Dozier also came in to give us the details of the Daily’s Old School Kingfish Shootout presented by Yellowfin, too. It’s going to be a fantastic tournament, and if it’s anything like Paul’s latest wahoo tournament, it’s going to be a legendary finish! Of course, the guys just wound up talking about all kinds of fishing stuff, so be sure to listen close for all kinds of cool tips and some fun stories, too.
Jeff was out of town this week, but he wasn’t doing any OSR. He was having himself one Proud Daddy Day, watching his son Dylan graduate from college! CONGRATS, DYLAN!!!!
So, with an empty seat in the studio, Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk called in Ringpower Fishing Forecast co-host Capt. Scott “That’s Me!” Shank to talk about the very latest in First Coast fishing developments. Seems like everybody’s got fishing on the brain – if that’s you, this is the episode for you!
Capt. Kevin, Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky were all in-studio for this week’s episode, and according to them, it’s looking like the switch is starting to flip out of the ups and downs of spring and into the full-on, rip-roaring, every-angler’s-dream conditions that the First Coast is known for. Why do they think that? Listen in to find out, and see how the upcoming weather forecast plays into what they’re saying.
The Outdoors Show World Tour 2023 continued this week at Waylen Bay Marine! Turns out WBM is in the middle of their “Spring Into Summer” sales event – and it was a big deal, with food, refreshments…and great deals, of course!
It was such a party that Ringpower Fishing Forecast co-host Capt. Scott Shank joined in the fun and sat in for a couple hours!
As for the conversation, it was all over the place, as you’ve come to expect. Everything from fishing to beach erosion to facilities maintenance, pig traps and more.
Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve no doubt heard about the massive sargassum bloom that’s headed toward the First Coast. Scientists are predicting it’s going to be at its worst in June, but the immediate question is this: how much nasty, stinky weed are we looking at right now? Well, Capt. Kevin, Capt. Scott and Capt. Ricky are the ones to tell you, and they’ll fill you in. They’ll also tell you about the luck they’ve had over the past several days.
As for the coming week, they can’t make any predictions on how well you’ll do, but at least you’ll have the forecast to give you an idea when to fish…and when to stay home and organize your gear.
