In this episode we discuss the farmers' protest in London following the government's decision to introduce inheritance tax for farmers in the recent budget, now known as the 'family farm tax'. We consider the devastating impact this will have, why it matters and how it is part of a bigger picture which is important to recognise. We finish with a timely challenge from Morgoth suggesting we (including farmers) need to be good men rather than nice guys, and a sobering but encouraging reading from Habbakuk 3:17-18.

In this post-election episode we review Donald Trump’s historic victory in the 2024 US election. We consider the policies he ran on, compared with those of Kamala Harris, and why the mainstream media has been struggling to come to terms with a Trump win and the fact that overwhelming numbers of American voters have backed him. We finish with a sobering reading from Psalm 2, and a reminder that the Lord is on the throne and earthly rulers should serve him with fear.

In this episode we discussed a few topics which have been in the news, including Labour’s budget and in particular the devastating blow to farmers who face being taxed out of existence. We talked about the imprisonment of Tommy Robinson on a contempt of court charge over the showing of his film ‘Silenced’ (link below), and the recent revelations about the man charged with killing three children in Southport. We considered the new ‘pride poppy’ released by the Royal British Legion, and reviewed the Archbishop of Canterbury’s recent interview with Alistair Campbell and Rory Stewart. We finished with reading John 8:12, a reminder that Jesus is the light of the world and if we follow him we will have the light of life.

In this episode we focus on two different issues, with a common thread relating to freedom and the efforts of those in authority to censor, suppress and control. We begin with a brief review of the recent ‘Rescue the Republic’ rally held in Washington DC, drawing together speakers from the ‘freedom movement’ including Jordan Peterson, Robert Kennedy Jr, Russell Brand and ‘dissident doctors’ Robert Malone & Pierre Kory. We go on to discuss the increasing number of organisations trying to indoctrinate children, primarily in schools and colleges, including through the government’s PREVENT strategy. We finish by reading Ephesians 6:12 as a reminder that we face dark and spiritual forces of evil in the world, but we read on to see that God will provide us with everything we need for the battle.

In this special episode we talk with Rev Dr William Philip, minister of the Tron Church in Glasgow. We discuss the dangers of the ‘climate gospel’, the challenges of the covid era and the failings of many churches, the increasing unrest and disconnect in our nation as our society moves further away from God’s ways, and the challenge for Christians to be courageous and go against the crowd, which may be costly but is an essential part of being a disciple of Christ. We finish with hearing about William’s new book on the Psalms, ‘Heart Songs for Every Saint’.
In this episode we consider developments since our last podcast, looking at the two-tier policing, media and judiciary in the UK. We discuss the input of Elon Musk, amongst others, and the increasing clamp downs on free speech including arresting people for posts on social media. We conclude with an update on the Keswick Convention debacle, and a reading from Psalm 37.
In this episode we discuss various events in the news including questions over the Lucy Letby case, the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, the new Labour government, the Olympic opening ceremony and the Keswick Convention. We then focus on recent unrest in a number of British towns and cities triggered by on-going issues around immigration, crime, attacks and most recently the horrific murder of three little girls in Southport. We consider the actions of the police, the authorities and the dangers of ignoring or belittling legitimate concerns. We end with some reflections on these difficult but important issues from a Christian perspective, and a reading from Joshua 1:7-9.
In this episode we review Nick Franks’ latest book ‘The Glorious Few: Redeeming Radicalisation in the Kingdom of God'. We explore the nature of ‘de-radicalised’ Christianity in the West, the ‘industrial idolatry’ in the church, why the churches closed in 2020, and what ‘redeeming radicalisation’ looks like. We think this is an important book, particularly for the UK church, and would encourage listeners to get a copy for themselves and one for their church leader! We conclude with 2 Timothy 4:8 and "Amen, Come Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).

We also discuss the upcoming UK election in light of a recent survey by the Evangelical Alliance which gives some interesting insight into the thinking of ‘evangelical’ Christians in the UK. We finish with the need to acknowledge reality and take encouragement from Colossians 2:6-10.
