Yesterday we mentioned that NZ First Leader Winston Peters had confirmed his party would be pushing for a referendum on abortion law reform. Today he has doubled down, hitting out at his coalition partner Labour over its handling of the issue. Meanwhile, an opinion suggests men shouldn't vote if there is a referendum on abortion. The panellists give their thoughts. A recent Consumer NZ survey shows that 57 per cent of kiwis support a ban on prescription medicine advertising. Currently only the US and NZ allow this practice. The medical industry has long advocated for a ban but supporters say it increases awareness of medicines. Professor Les Toop is a GP and a researcher at the University of Otago and joins us to explain the problem as he sees it. We thought we'd look back 40 years to a scheme that for those who recall it was either legendary or a shambles. Roger Moroney writes that the 'carless day' scheme that started in July 30 1979 led by Prime Minister Robert Muldoon. It last less than a year but would it work again now?
