The book of Bamidbar takes up the story as we left at the end of the book of Shemos. The Jewish people traveled from Egypt to Mt. Sinai, where they received the Torah. Now they are ready to travel through the desert to the promised land.
Our Parsha begins with Hashem commanding Moshe to count every Jewish man from the ages of 20 to 60. The number totaled to 603,550, excluding the tribe of Levi. They were counted separately and from just one month old totaling to 22,000.
We find out why Hashem had the Jewish nation counted for the third time in the same year.
We learn the power of an individual when they join a community.
This week's Torah portion is Parshas Behar & Bechukosai, the courage to stand out.

Our Parsha contains many laws specifically pertaining to Kohanim. We begin with the law that is applicable till this very day, the commandment that a Kohen must remain Tahor- ritually pure at all times.
The Torah continues with many laws concerning the sacrifices in the Mishkan. It tells us at what age can the animal be used for a sacrifice, or which blemishes can disqualify it from use as a Korban. The Parsha concludes by teaching us about different holidays, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkos, Pesach, and Shavous.
We find out why the Torah seemingly repeats itself in the first Pasuk of the Parsha.
We learn what it takes to reach an additional level of holiness.
This week is a double Torah portion, Parshas Acharei Mos & Kedoshim.

Our Parshas begin immediately following the death of Aaron’s two sons Nadav and Avihu. Hashem commands Moshe to tell Aaron and his 2 remaining sons, not to go into the Holy of Holies at will, for they will share the same consequences as Nadav and Avihu.
The next portion begins with the statement: “You shall be holy, for I, the Lord your G‑d, am holy.” This declaration is followed by many Mitzvahs, including charity, Shabbos, morality, honesty in business, honor and awe of one’s parents, and the sacredness of life.
We find out the connection between honoring one's parents and the Mitzvah of keeping Shabbos.
We learn the power of influence.
This week is a double Torah portion, Parshas Tazria & Metzora.

Our Parsha begins the third book of the Torah, Sefer Vayikra. The book of Vayikra primarily speaks about the work that Kohanim and Leviim would do in the Mishkan or Beis Hamikdash.
The Parsha starts off with the first time Hashem speaks to Moshe Rabbienu from within the Mishkan. He relates to Moshe the various types of sacrifices that can be brought on the Mizbe’ach. The Olah, an elective sacrifice that was burnt entirely and solely for G-d. The Chatas, an offering that would atone for sins that were done unintentionally. The Shelamim, a voluntary sacrifice that was brought to thank G-d and was eaten by the donor, Kohanim, and Leviim.
We find out why there is a small Alef at the end of the word Vayikra?
We learn the different ways Hashem can speak to prophets and how it applies to our unprecedented situation.
May Hashem continue to give us all much health during this unprecedented time, and heal those affected!

Our Parshas begins with Moshe descending from Mt. Sinai with the second pair of Luchos. He did so only after successfully attaining forgiveness from Hashem for the sin of the Golden Calf. The Torah portions then go through the construction of the Mishkan and its components. From the beams and sockets that comprised walls of the Mishkan to the Menorah and priestly garments that were worn during their service.
We find out why Moshe gave an exact accounting of what was donated for the construction of the Mishkan and what is was used for?
We learn what it means to be honest and virtuous before G-d!
I wish you all much health in this very unprecedented circumstance.
This week's Torah portion is Parshas Ki Tisa.
