Today's episode is a short one, but it's simply about tackling the hard things in life, things we don't necessarily want to do and often avoid or put off for another time. It's difficult, it's hard convincing yourself to do them especially if they come with stress, pain, or heartache. But here's the thing...that's when we know we have to do them and do them first before anything else. Why? Because they aren't going to go anywhere until you face them. And in my own journey that I share here with all of you on The Perfect Mess, I have learned the only way to get better and grow is to do Hard Things. I hope this episode helps you do the same.

In the spirit of 9/11, I touch on the memory and my trip to NYC 4-5 years after 9/11. I also discuss the feeling of the country after those events and how it brought us all together as one; as Americans...and how we could use that today in this current climate. Aside from that, I talk about Football's return, how sports is so different from the fans perspective. Also, we've had more fires to deal with, which led to some creative dad moves to keep my boys busy and active. Yes, they learned how to drive! WHAT?! Yes...tune in. I also talk about my current #75HARD journey and give tips on how to make yours a bit more tolerable should you choose to venture off into the world of #75HARD. Then finally, I talk about my 3 new book purchases and the one controversial author I chose to read about...tune in and find out who that might be???

I've sat and watched recently how a great majority of the world embraces being a victim. In fact people encourage those to use it as an excuse as to why life is so hard and why they are the way they are. You had no choice, look at where you came from...this is the hand you were dealt! WRONG! I don't buy into that, and neither should you. I am here to share 10 different stories of how people chose to not play the victim card (they rightfully could have) and chose to get busy living instead of getting busy dying. We all have excuses, some greater than others...but trust me when I say this; you will reach a point in life where you being the victim is a flat out CHOICE. I hope this episode sheds some light for you and you choose otherwise.

I was given a compliment recently and was taken a back for a bit. Something like that hasn’t happened in so long and I had no idea how to respond. It got me thinking about a few things. 1.) why don’t women do that more often? 2.) how do we compliment and approach women these days without looking or sounding like a creep? So much to talk about and I would love to hear from you all. Here’s my IG’s: @theperfectmesspod @itsplayarae and don’t forget to subscribe, review and share!

This episode we open with a little of what I’ve been up to the last week and how some funny things happened with regards to my last podcast “Stand By Me”. Then we jump on in to “Fall In Line” which is a deep discussion on accepting people for their differences of opinion on life and all its different aspects. Learning that it’s ok to disagree and not feel the need to cancel someone or be angry and end a friendship or disown a family member. That having a “you’re either with us or your against us” mentality can in slot of ways hurt you in the long run. Please listen openly and I hope you enjoy.

It’s kind of amazing to realize that our kids these days don’t experience “outside” like we use to. From having friends knocking on our doors asking if we can come outside and play, to riding bikes miles and miles away from our homes with our friends just to “hang out”. Digital runs everything now and I’ve taken it upon myself to dig back into my childhood to share things with my kids to help them grow and experience life outside the confines of a computer screen. Stand By Me was a life changer for me as a kid and I’ll explain how it has a special place for my kids and I on this episode. Moms, Dads...if you’re trying to figure out how to keep the kids busy during this pandemic, this may help ya! Enjoy....

In this episode it’s story time. Some of you may be in a situation right now where you are in love with someone and they are giving you every sign or telling you direct that they are not into you anymore or just aren’t feeling you anymore...and you keep trying; forcing in fact. When we do this we lose a small piece of ourselves each time. It’s important to love and respect ourselves more and to learn to leave and walk away knowing at some point we’ll be ok. I take you back to when I was 19 and had to learn that lesson for myself. Thank God I had good friends and a cousin who loved me enough to show me tough love. I hope you enjoy the episode and like always please share it and review it if you do. Thanks!

We are living in some unique times. Times when things we thought were done with are coming back to haunt us all. We went from a global pandemic over Covid-19 to protests and riots over police brutality and racial in-equality. Things have boiled over and as tempers rise we are having to process where we stand in all of this. It's taking a lot of reflection on ourselves, our families, our friends and our homes. Acknowledging that there are in fact problems there and that it is no longer acceptable to remain quiet about it. These times require us to realize things are learned and although it can be extremely hard, they can also be un-learned. If we are going to change things, it takes all of us to clean up our own homes first...then we can conquer the world.

Today, I had no plans to do an podcast. But, not only are we dealing with a pandemic and Covid-19 but we are now once again dealing with Police Brutality and Racial Tension. Our country is in bad shape right now and truth be told, being a Father trying to teach your children how to navigate through all of this is not an easy task. I went into tonights POD with no script, just turned the mic on and got to recording because of a conversation I had with my children today after home schooling. I hope this message helps some of you, and if it does...please share it with someone. Thank you
