Kathy Guillermo, PETA Sr. VP talks about how Budweiser is mutilating the very Clydesdale horses you see on television ads and at public events. PETA undercover investigators got the facts. Budweiser prefers to keep its cruelty secret.

Utah's Senate Bill 113 would restrict animal enterprises and would mean the rollback of a local ban on the carriage horse trade in Salt Lake City. The state bigfooting the locals? It's a unique anti-animal rights strategy grassroots activists are fighting in Utah. PETA's Amy Meyer talks to Emil Guillermo and warns how if the anti-animal strategy wins in Utah, it could easily spread to other states.

PETA VP Christina Matthies talks to Emil Guillermo about birds, especially domesticated ones. Most human companions aren't as knowledgeable about birds. It means the situation devolves to the point a bird rescue is needed. How best to avoid a bird rescue? Don't turn to birds to be your companion animals. Let the birds be birds. Matthies is also the Editor-in-Chief of PETA's Global Animal Times. Check for a new issue this month. For more go to PETA.org. PETA answered a whistleblower's call and investigated a Colombian lab that experiments on animals. Now a Colombian government agency is trying to seize the monkeys at Caucaseco Scientific Research in Cali, Colombia. Should the U.S. National Institutes of Health be next to investigate? U.S. taxpayers have paid $17 million to Caucaseco. And that's just one of nearly 800 foreign labs getting hundreds of millions from NIH.
PETA's calling for an end to this practice.

Egg, chicken, milk prices up 30 percent or more at the market? Avoid all that. Beat inflation by going vegan in 2023!
Jackie Day is an author, teacher, a JD, but she's no vegan cop. She doesn't believe in guilting people into being vegan. Instead, she gently helps them find their best reason to be vegan. Her book "The Vegan Way" isn't a recipe book, but more like a guide to help you get to your destination as prescribed by the book's subtitle, "21 days to a happier, healthier, plant-based lifestyle that will transform your home, your diet, and you."
In this fun conversation with podcast host/writer/fellow vegan Emil Guillermo, Day describes how she became vegetarian for the animals as a child, then 10 years later became a vegan after talking to an animal rights activist after a protest.
"The Vegan Way" is available wherever books are sold.
Emil Guillermo is certified in Plant-based Nutrition and a graduate of the T.Colin Campbell/E-Cornell nutrition studies program.

Burkholderia pseudomallei is the bacteria. But it causes a disease called melioidosis. They are the Tier 1 select agents known by the CDC to have been brought into America by the importation of monkeys from Asia.
So why isn't the public being warned of the threat? PETA has been working to expose the dangers of the U.S. science community's importation of monkeys.
Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel, a top primate scientist, now a senior science advisor to PETA, explores in this conversation with Emil Guillermo, why the government is enabling the importation of monkeys while downplaying the public threat.
PETA has used the public information act to get documents the government would rather the public not know. PETA has shared them in stories on the dangers of monkey importation with major news organizations this month.

Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel, a former Fulbright scholar, and a top primate scientist who once worked at the Washington Primate Research Center, is now a PETA Scientist. She talked to Emil Guillermo about the recent federal indictments of 8 Asian nationals, including two Cambodian government officials, on alleged monkey smuggling charges and the impact that could have on the U.S. research community. If U.S. Fish and Wildlife and the Justice Department win their case, it could mean the seizure of thousands of monkeys and force labs to conduct scientific methods that are non-animal, less cruel, and more ethical.
