After graduation, she attended Emory & Henry University where she competed on their IDA and IHSA teams and earned accolades including Female Newcomer Athlete of the Year and a First Level Championship at IDA Nationals and contributed to a 2024 National Champion Team title. She now works at the Grier School as an Admissions and Marketing Associate and Assistant Director of Summer Camp. 
• Guest: Natalie Townsend is from Kempton, PA, and is a senior at the Grier School where she is in her fourth year. She serves as the captain of the Varsity Hunt Seat team and currently competes on the A circuit in the 3’3” Junior Hunter division with her personal horse, Exclusive.
•  Guest: Logan Faison is from Linville, VA, and is a junior at the Grier School and a member of the Varsity Hunt Seat and Western teams. Logan is going into her fourth year at Grier School where she serves as the Varsity Hunt Seat captain for two years. • Guest: Trent McGee is a 23-year-old rider from California. Trent received his first major riding opportunity at 16 when he was a working student for Archie Cox at Brookway Stables. Under Archie's mentorship, Trent transitioned into his first professional role where he went on to win and place in numerous Grand Prixs, placed 4th in the 2021 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals – West, and helped to earn a Team Medal at Prix des States for Zone 10. Trent's path toward representing Team USA became more clear through the newly established Road to the Top program. Through this program, Trent now trains and works with Katie and Henri Prudent at Plain Bay Farm, and continues to develop as a rider and professional in the sport.

Welcome to The Plaidchat- an extension of The Plaidcast where we expand upon conversations in our sport and discuss the most recent issue of The Plaid Horse Magazine. Today, Piper reads her latest article, "Trust Fall." Following the reading, Dr. Joseph Wakshlag, a Professor of Clinical Nutrition at Cornell University joins to talk about CBD in horses.

• Guest: Dr. Joseph Wakshlag is a Professor of Nutrition and Sports Medicine at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, from which he received his DVM degree. He remained at Cornell University for a residency in pathology followed by a residency in clinical nutrition. In 2005, he also completed a PhD program in pharmacology. He became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Nutrition in 2008. Subsequently, he pursued specialty training in rehabilitation and sports medicine, becoming one of the first Veterinarians to be board certified in this specialty. Dr. Wakshlag’s research interests include carotenoids and fatty acid metabolism in cancer cell biology and metabolism in working dogs. He is widely published; lectures extensively on a variety of nutrition-related topics; and continues to mentor students, interns and residents. Dr. Wakshlag conducted the first-ever clinical trial on dogs using ElleVet CBD and continues to lead the way in hemp research in new areas of study. In the journal of Equine Veterinary Science, Dr. Wakshlag published the peer-reviewed article Dose-Dependent Increase in Whole Blood Omega-3 Fatty Acid Concentration in Horses Receiving a Marine-Based Fatty-Acid Supplement and current research includes a conference abstract from May 2025 entitled Chronic use of cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) in horses does not alter their metabolic profile.
