The Plot Thickens

We're finally here on season 13 of MBFFL! We can't believe it. And to add to the fun, TLC has given your girls SCREENERS so we can watch the episodes in advance, create our episodes, and get you the recaps the day after the episodes drop on cable television! In the premier episode of MBFFL, Whitney once again fakes us out in a classic Robert Frost conundrum - two roads are diverged in Greensboro and Whit has a choice to make: will she say in Greensboro and try to start a family on her own via artificial insemination, or will she move somewhere totally different and start fresh? Season 13 holds all the answers and we can't wait to explore them together! 

Y'all - we're coming to the (temporary) end of our coverage of Season 2 of MBFFL - because we're going to pick up next week on Season 13, which drops TODAY, JULY 1! Throughout this season, we're changing our podcast drops to MONDAYS instead of TUESDAYS, so you'll be able to recap the previous week's episode the day before you watch the NEW episode!

But while we're still on Season 2... This is a landmark episode. And that's because it's the episode where we first meet Lennie. Is it just us, or did Lennie come on the scene way sooner than you all thought too? Because we were SHOCKED that he wasn't a Season 4 or 5 add-on! In any event, Whit is meeting Lennie tonight and love is in the air... or is it in the beard? Because Lennie's got a big, bushy one and it's full of scented beard cream that you know our girl Whit just goes wild for. Tune in and listen to the last episode of Season 2 before we go full speed ahead on Season 13! 

On today’s episode of the plot thickens, we are recapping a landmark moment in Whitney‘s life… She’s finally “leaving the nest!” And no, you didn’t read that wrong and your eyes do not deceive you! Whitney‘s plan to move out with her current “best friend“ Buddy is finally coming to fruition! But as Tal points out, there’s going to be a lot of temptation in that new house (a la shirtless Buddy) - will Whit be able to withstand it? Or will she buckle under the temptation of a burly man in his skivvies? Will Babs and Glenn be able to go on without Whitney in the house (and ten whole minutes away) or will they just miss her too much?

It's finally the night of the big Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game! and boy, did the weather turn out poorly for Whitney and her BGDC's debut - but don't worry - the girls should be fine regardless of how the dance number goes (though Whitney is entirely convinced that they'll jettison themselves off the stadium if the dance doesn’t go as planned). The manager of baseball operations assures Whit that the Grasshoppers' stadium has the best drainage in town, but Whit, having never danced on grass before, let alone WET GRASS, isn't convinced. Will the dance number end in victory or defeat? Will "a big girl go down," or will the BGDC show that Whitney (and only Whitney, with no help from Todd) can do anything she sets her mind to? Only tonight's episode will tell.  

This week, Whit is saying "CARBONARA" (huh???) to pasta, bread and other white carbs, even though her dietician specifically advised against it! She's forging her own path and making her own choices and cutting out food groups left and right. Whit decides to put herself to the ultimate challenge - to go out for Italian food with her friends, Babs and Glenn and allow them to order all of her favorite foods so that she can "look the carbs in the face" and say "don't call me, I'll call you." But will Whit make it on no carbs once the cravings kick in? Will she find foods that make her feel energized or will she stick to her old favorites that make her feel sluggish? Only time (and Julie Duffy Dillon) will tell! 

Whitney’s back, y’all! In this aptly titled episode, WWT returns to the spotlight, hand in the air, with renewed determination following her pre-diabetes diagnosis. She visits her doctor to assess the impact of her recent lifestyle changes - BGDC and… that’s it… on her health. Spoiler alert: she’s not any farther from the diabetes diagnosis! Whitney challenges herself by attempting to ride a bicycle - a custom-made, wide-wheeled bicycle - for the first time in years! Though, unlike with dancing, we don’t get a number for how many years it’s been! This episode sets the tone for the season, and begs the questions: will Whitney be determined enough to outwit (outWHIT) diabetes? Can you really be fat and fit at the same time? Will Whitney and Buddy ever recross the “fleshhold?” And can you fight diabetes if you don’t live with your parents? 

Finally, we've reached the end of the recaps and are coming to the true "meat" of Season 2. While Whit weighs in on her big fat fabulous journey, your faithful cohost are weighing in on some seriously hot tea that's boiling in Whit's kitchen - we promised you a deeper dive into Tinder and we're delivering this week! That's right - for those of you who didn't listen or weren't paying close attention, one of the members of the My Big Fat Fabulous Life Subreddit actually came across WWT on his Tinder, and some of the details in her bio might surprise you. We're unpacking that but also talking about some of the never-before-seen clips that Whit shared on her recap show, like what was going on with "Wigney" and Tal's first adventure in "smushing."
