BREAKING NEWS: The Cardinals are officially releasing Kyler Murray. With free agency starting Monday, Murray will be an option and it could be for the veteran minimum. Is Murray a real option for the Steelers? We have heard that Mike McCarthy may be interested in the former 1st overall pick. Murray’s on-field focus has been in question for years, going back to the video game clause that was placed in his second contract with the Cardinals. After watching the Seahawks win a Super Bowl with Sam Darnold, does that pique the interest more in Murray? It feels like a good ‘buy low’ move. How many other teams will be in on Murray?
NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson from CBS Sports joined the show. Ryan said Kyler Murray was a slam-dunk 1st overall pick in his year, even with some limitations. He said Murray is worth a vet minimum deal if that can be had. Ryan said he doesn’t remember hearing about the video game stuff with Murray when he was coming out of college – a lot of the focus was on his height and him playing baseball. Ryan said Carson Beck will be a 2nd or 3rd round pick after his performance at the NFL Combine. Ryan doesn’t think any QB really hurt their stock last week in Indy. How did we get a much bigger hand measurement from Garrett Nussmeier last week? Ryan thinks the Makai Lemon interviews are being misconstrued from the combine, which may be red flags to some teams. The guys asked Ryan about the news of Caleb Downs having a torn meniscus on his report from the combine. Ryan sees Jordyn Tyson as a late 1st round type player, so he should be on the board for the Steelers. What’s the story on Gennings Dunker, who turned heads at the combine due to his flowing red mullet? Ryan said the Steelers should have a Penn State OL on their board at 21. Ryan told the guys he got zero buzz of Ty Simpson to the Steelers. Ryan has Eli Heidenreich as a Day 3 pick as a player that can play all over the place on offense.
Donny Football Debrief – With the Colts tagging Daniel Jones, it looks like Alec Pierce will be hitting the open market.
