A caller yesterday sparked today’s opening conversation about the prospect of the Steelers winning their own division, but why he wouldn’t be impressed by it. Poni thinks the Steelers should not be apologizing for checking off the first box to a successful year – doing something they haven’t done since 2020. To no huge surprise, Chris said the division title would mostly come with an asterisk because the Ravens and Bengals dealt with QB injuries.

PG writer Jason Mackey joined the show. The guys had Jason react to the news of Fenway Sports Group selling the Penguins to the Hoffmann Group. Will Mario Lemieux be involved in any way? Jason said Mario still loves to be around hockey and the team, but doesn’t want to be ‘knee-deep’ in ownership duties. Jason got into some of the ownership history for Hoffmann and if this is a venture they have any experience in. What does this mean for the Penguins and their TV deal? Jason said FSG left the Penguins in worse shape than when they found them, despite making double their money on the sale, but he doesn’t think it was altogether ‘bad.’
