Mason Rudolph was asked today if he has asked for a trade. He kept it professional, saying it was up to his agent and the Steelers front office. Should he have handled anything differently this offseason? Does he deserve better?
Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike said the depth chart “error” was out there to help the trade value for Mason Rudolph. He said it doesn’t help Kenny Pickett or Rudolph, and it would not take 19 hours to fix the mistake. The guys asked Mike if anything can be done with the new cap space by the TJ Watt contract reconstruction – he said the team could wait until after week one to sign a player with the extra money, but the Steelers aren’t historically a team that chases names during the season. The Ravens have yet to sign Lamar Jackson to a big extension – Mike doesn’t see a deal happening until Jackson hires a real agent. He described the contract as a “major issue” because Jackson reportedly wants a fully guaranteed deal, but thinks if Jackson had an agent it would be easier for something to get done. Mike’s Steelers season prediction: no record given, but has them winning the AFC North, led by Kenny Pickett.
