The oddsmakers have the Steelers picked last in the AFC North. Even the Browns without Deshaun Watson for 11 games have better odds to win the division. The guys are in somewhat disbelief that oddsmakers see more promise in Jacoby Brissett than Mitch Trubisky. The guys think the Steelers have the edge in offensive skill and the defenses are about even. The guys think there is a better shot the Steelers win the division before finishing in last. Poni is so convinced the Steelers will be better than the Browns, he’s putting his balls on the line. The guys reupped on their AFC North ranking predictions. 

Former Steeler Kordell Stewart joined the show. Kordell talked about what the Steelers are facing this Sunday and how he feels about Mitch Trubisky as QB1. He said Mitch looked like he belonged in the preseason games and looks comfortable in the offense so far. Kordell said the quarterback has to be mobile and add a different flare to the offense. He’s confident that Mike Tomlin has this thing under control and he won’t let the season get away from the Steelers. Kordell said they can’t jump to Kenny Pickett too quickly so they shouldn’t have a super quick trigger on Trubisky. Diontae Johnson was injured in the Steelers final preseason game. Despite Mike Tomlin saying Johnson would return if it were a regular season game, Johnson disputed that, and his status for Sunday is in question. 

The contract of TJ Watt has been restructured, which gives the Steelers flexibility to add a player as the regular season comes around. Should the Steelers kick the tires on Eric Fisher? They don’t need a generational talent at left tackle, but they need someone better than Dan Moore Jr. Poni speculated the team having money open to bring back Joe Haden. Chris said that concerns him for two reasons – they seem to be happy with the offensive line and they aren’t happy with their corners. The guys agreed fixing, or at least attempting to fix the offensive line is the first move you have to make.

Mitch Trubisky said he is the man for the job as week one draws closer against the Bengals. How much confidence do you have in QB1? Joe Burrow had an appendectomy around a month ago – does that oddly give the Steelers any advantage? 

Former Bengal and Steeler Solomon Wilcots joined the show. Solomon doesn’t believe the appendix of Joe Burrow will play a factor in the game Sunday. He talked about how this isn’t the Bengals of the past following the Super Bowl appearance last season. He complimented Burrow’s play last season dealing with the offensive line struggles he dealt with. He talked about the team drafting Ja’Marr Chase and how the existing connection between Burrow and Chase got the job done instead of going offensive line early in the draft. He mentioned how the Steelers could use a similar formula to have success despite the offensive line play. Solomon said both offensive lines should be worried ahead of this game because of the talent featured in each defense. He said Sunday will be a dog fight. He raved about Mike Hilton – saying he’s been a gift to the Bengals defense. Solomon’s Steelers season prediction: 8-8-1, which he noted would be an overachievement with this offense. He added that nobody with the Bengals is looking beyond Pittsburgh, along with the rest of the AFC North, labeling the division as a “four-team race.”
