We remembered and paid tribute to Dwayne Haskins.

Ohio State football insider, Bill Landis joined the show. Bill helped us pay tribute to Dwayne Haskins. He painted the picture of the Ryan Day press conference and how those in Columbus are remembering Haskins days after his life was tragically struck short. 

HOCKEY TALK! Pens beat the Predators yesterday to end a 4-game losing streak. Sidney Crosby tallied two goals (his 1400th career point), but Evgeni Malkin may be facing a suspension.

Former Steeler Arthur Moats joined the show. Arthur talked about the pre-draft visits that players take and what his experience was like. He said Malik Willis would be the QB he would take if he absolutely had to draft one this year because of his upside and ceiling. Arthur got into the Tyrann Mathieu hypothetical and how much he fits into the Steelers defense and if the move makes sense. He compared Mathieu to Minkah Fitzpatrick, saying he would take Minkah right now because of his age. Arthur then gave his advice to Poni and Chris for the Pitt Spring Game tomorrow.

There’s an NFL executive out there that isn’t a fan of the Mitch Trubisky signing. The guys debated why Trubisky chose the Steelers over other interested teams. They wondered if the Giants gave Trubisky the heads up that Daniel Jones was their guy and he selected Pittsburgh for that reason. 

PFF Steve joined the guys. He said Malik Willis is the best QB of this draft class and the top five from last year are all better than Willis. Steve said even though none of the QBs in this class jump off the page, it’s not stupid for teams to pick them because you have to take a shot and the payoff of hitting on that guy it could change your franchise. He said Mac Jones is a better quarterback than Kenny Pickett and Jones has the higher ceiling. The guys asked Steve about Tyrann Mathieu and how much he could help out the Steelers defense.

The Honey Badger broke his silence. Star safety Tyrann Mathieu talked about the type of contract it would take to sign him and it’s not as egregious as people may think for a multi-time all-pro player. 

Pirates insider Jason Mackey joined the guys. He recapped the rough opening day loss for the Buccos, but shined a light on Ke’Bryan Hayes signing an 8-year contract. The guys asked Jason his concern with Hayes’ injury after he left the game in the first inning yesterday. Jason talked about where the Pirates are headed in the near future. Poni asked if the Hayes deal stops the Pirates from striking a deal with Bryan Reynolds – Jason doesn’t think it has an impact. The guys asked when we see Oneil Cruz and how likely it is that he gets a deal.

Legendary Steelers writer, Ed Bouchette joined the show. Ed was preparing for a happy hour later in the day. Ed said the Steelers aren’t a smokescreen type and it’s something they would never do, but that doesn’t mean they will absolutely take a QB. The guys got Ed into the Kevin Colbert history of trading up or down in the first round. He said he didn’t have a special feeling going into the night the Steelers traded up for Devin Bush. Ed said a QB in round one is not a wasted pick if they truly think he will be the guy to lead them into the future. Ed named Devonte Wyatt as the player he likes the Steelers to take on the first night of the draft, referencing his versatility to play up front. He believes Malik Willis is the number one QB on the Steelers board right now, ahead of Kenny Pickett at number two. Ed added some advice for the guys tomorrow heading into the Pitt Spring Game.
